I'm Not sure, SEALS took out El Mencho, Mexico on Fire

This Guy was The Grand Enchilada and he was arrested 3 times in California and walked every time.

Supposedly he’s been more violent than El Chapo.

So did we do the deal?

A claim spread quickly on social media Sunday that U.S. Special Forces killed Mexican cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias “El Mencho,” during a raid in Jalisco state. Trump world ‘influencer’ Laura Loomer posted on X that “After the US eliminated a top Cartel leader in Mexico today, Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) has retaliated by storming the Guadalajara Airport with armed gunmen. They are now taking American tourists hostage at nearby highways and hotels.”

The post linked to a video and gained wide attention, with thousands of likes, reposts, and replies.

It stated bluntly: "This post is false. The military operation in Tapalpa, Jalisco, aimed at capturing Rubén “N,” alias “Mencho,” was planned and executed by Mexican Special Forces.

Doubt it, that was a stupid post for her to make.

Trump’s own words would make me believe there was some US involvement. At least in advising the mexican assaulters.

Maybe someone in the know can explain why the Mexican Marines are the go-to for ops against the cartels. Supposedly they are rather untarnished and not corrupted like the Army and Federales. Is it their command who is “pure”? I’m surprised they haven’t been infiltrated by the cartels like every other facet of Mexican society.

It’s nerve racking when you see a troop transport full of Mexican Military driving in the city. I can’t reconcile their presence. What do they do all day? Last truckload I saw was full of guys with clean and new gear and guns.

Your city or in MX? I may be missing something.

On vacation in Penasco. These random military trucks drive around or are parked. It’s a clear reminder that you are in a corrupt shit hole…. no matter how mellow everything else seems.

I don’t know Mark We used to spend an awful lot of time in Mexico. They used to ring the resorts with Guards from the Guadia National, so the G.N. was pulling Security for the Cartels that owned the Resorts.

It’s a mess, so we quit going ten years ago and it was highly questionable then.

You gotta stop going to Rocky Point man, it’s not the same as it was a decade ago, seriously dangerous at times and on the way there now too. My buddy sold his house we used to go about 2 years ago after an incident with his family and won’t ever go back.

I might not go back after this next trip. I’ve never had the slightest concern in the last 2 years. My friends are there monthly and have a trailer at the reef that’s left in their spot.

The only spooky thing is the Mexican Mil, like I said. The reason we go there is I can bring the dogs.

In the late 90’s we used to have a timeshare in Puerto Vallarta. Took friends of ours down one year and we decided to go a little north to some off-the-beaten-path beaches. We rented a jeep and headed north. Rounded one bend in the road and there was a military checkpoint setup, complete with trucks with MG’s mounted and soldiers with G3’s. Even then Mexico’s corruption was well-known, so we were like “WTF?”. They eyeballed us as we slowed down, then waived us on. We breathed a sigh of relief since the scenario of coming up missing in Mexico popped into my mind!

I worked in Reynosa Mexico from 2006 to 2009. When I first got there it was fairly peaceful and no issues other than the Transitos (traffic cops) occasionally shaking me down for 20 pesos. Then the cartels moved in and violence went way up- some nights you could hear explosions and machine gun fire. The Federales would drive by me and point rifles at me. The army set up roadblocks and would steal any cash I had. I finally said screw it and took a job in Corpus Christi before eventually moving back to TN.

The Story I heard was that this particular Guy was on the radar for some specific reasons. I beleive he had spent some years in California and he was arrested and released there. In Mexico He hid out in the Mountains for Years successfully.

He stayed 4 days in the same place with some Girlfriend and they got him triangulated. Drones, then eyes on. Then they called the Boss

Trump called the President of Mexico and told her, “You can do it, ot I will.”. So if this works will he use it again?

He was the leader of one of the major cartels so of course he was on the radar… Where did you see the part about Trump though?

I’ve never understood why anyone would go to Mexico. The whole country has been run by cartels for a very long time. The “safe” places were only that way because the cartels allowed them to be.

Yes, you would be foolish to think that the cartels didn’t have their fingers in the tourist industry down there. It is another source of revenue. Therefore they will “protect” it like any other of their “investments”.

Haven’t been to Mexico since January of 2021 (our annual winter tropical vacation), and that was only because of the COVID restrictions other places had. I was reluctant to do it even then. Before that it had been a decade since my last trip there. We used to go almost every year as Mexico had the best all-inclusive deals. I won’t step foot there now.

My casual Observations as a Drunken Gringo in Mexico.

If you need to go for a walk or catch some air stay close to the Hotel. If you run into the Gardia National, turn around your White Azz has went to far. It’s actually safer in front of the Hotels than on the Beach.

The G/N are there to keep the tourist safe and out of the jails and hospitals. The Cartels do that because they own the Resorts, they’ve been investing in resorts since the 70’s.

While you are ther notice that everyone you interact with to exchange money for Hotels, Food and drinks will all look more Spanish than Mexican. The more native or “Indian” looking folks will work outside or they will clean for you. They don’t touch money unless you Tip them.

The irony in that is the actual Cartel Members will look more “Native” than Spanish.

That was my thought for decades. And I know it only takes one nightmare to make it hell, but it’s so quiet in the Reef down there. My friends, although gringos, are as well connected as you can be. They know almost everyone down there and the behaviors to best stay safe.

The travel from the border to Penasco and back again is the only part of the trip that I’m a little uneasy.

My understanding is that they don’t get stationed or put to work close to where they are from, reducing the probability of collaborating with the target or target’s circle.
