My Bulgy 5.45 mags arrived today, I picked up a case of 5.45 FMJ and I received shipping notifcation of my Warsaw length buttstock. Now I just have to wait for my SLR to arrive. Waiting sucks
Yeah, it does, but then you’ll be holding and hugging and caressing it in un natural ways when you do get it…
When are you going to be able to shoot it?
If it arrives Thursday or early Friday I go Friday after lunch. If not I’ll skip out or work early one day next week and shoot it.

My dealer has what I think is an Arsenal Inc. It’s got all black furniture. What’s their engraving look like on the right side along the receiver? This one had really generic poopy looking engraving- like it had been done by hand with a $12.95 engraver and a shaky hand but it was blackened over…

The pic that Dinger posted is of an Arsenal Inc. SLR-105A1 that had the Russian triangular folder installed, Soviet era AKS-74 laminate, and the rifle was then refinished.
To get something like that, you’re going to have to do a little building.
Ohio Rapid Fire has excellent condition AKS-74 kits in stock and DCI/NODAK will have their AKS-74 receiver to market very soon.
Prepare to pay out the ass for real Soviet era laminate though…:o

I can do w/o the Soviet furniture-other than the stock though. While we are on the subject of the stock-can that be fitted and work in 7.62?
With your knowledge, should I wait for the 5.45 that Arsenal is expected to release? I do want a railed version in both calibers.

I was looking at buying one from Atlantic that’s already built up and just installing the Russian furniture myself. I’ve always wanted an AKS-74 side-folder. I’m sure the Arsenal SLR-105 with a gunsmith installed side-folding stock would be a hair “Better” but as long as mine goes bang every time it won’t bother me.
I got myself on the waiting list for a SLR-108 at Templar’s old work place to cover my 7.62mm AK needs last week.
I was looking at those, has me thinking-then I would be unable to get the 107 when it gets out.
How are the ORF pre-built AKS-74 rifles?
Yes, the triangular AKS stock can be fitted to an AKM type, in AK collector-speak they’re called “Khyber Pass” rifles, since they have shown up from time to time in Afghanistan, usually crafted by local weapon manufacturers.

Arsenal Inc. has discontinued importation of the 5.45x39mm SLR-105’s…so if you want one I’d get it.
The receivers that DCI are coming out with were reverse engineered from SLR-105’s and they’re supposed to be top notch.
The SLR-108 will be coming out after the SLR-107A1’s. I don’t think the SLR-108 will be available with a rail, but you can add that later. The SLR-107A1R will have the rail factory installed.
Dinger, I can’t emphasize enough how much I think you should go with the SLR-105 as a base rifle to build into an AKS-74…Bulgarian receiver…
I’d buy a kit or magazines from them in a heartbeat…but not a built rifle.

If it’s ORF or Elite out of Hurst, TX, run away. If it’s Red Jacket, you should be good to go, and I would demand an Armory USA receiver, which is properly heat treated.

I’d love to have a '74 in Russian wood with a sidefolder like at the top of the page. Since the Russian would would cost me an arm and a leg (how much exactly?) my next choice would be a plum version with plum mags or black with the nice bakelite mags. Where should I be looking to go for the rifle I’m describing? I built a Polish PMKMS but don’t feel like building another but I am not against buying a kit since I can find a builder…
