The only problem is that Illinois has preemption. When the carry law was passed towns were given a 10 day window to ban AR’s or the boogeyman or other stuff that they thought was scary, then it was a state issue. Very few implemented a ban. It will be interesting to see if this holds up in court.

They can play the ‘dangerous and unusual’, but what gun isnt’ ‘dangerous’, that’s the point. If you can outlaw guns that are ‘dangerous’ you can outlaw them all. This law would also cover 22lr rifles. ARs and AKs are the best selling rifles so, that throws ‘unusual’ out of the door. The pistols are the AR kind, not standard ones, but you are still limited to 10 rounds. Trying to ban semi pistols would have been too far even for them.
If Garland were on the court, I’d be worried, but this as bans goes is pretty bad, so it is ‘good’ for a court case. Perhaps a great case for “No you can’t take hi-caps and ARs away”, and then start titration back from there. Also, I don’t know how it will all work out, but Deerfield doesn’t have unlimited resources like a State or a bigger city.
Seems to lean Dem too. I imagine that a majority will support this idiocy until their taxes get hiked to pay the legal bills. At that time the local politicians who did this will quietly disappear and the population will get fleeced to pay for their indulgence. As it goes.
