If you're thinking about getting a Springfield...

Good CS means so much. There’s nothing worse than getting a product that’s not up to snuff and then getting ignored or outright dissed. Good on Springfield Armory for treating a customer like a customer.

I bought a new SA TRP when I was home over the holidays. When I took it out to the range for the first time it wouldn’t fire consistently. I called SA, had the shipping label 10 minutes later, and got my gun back in less than 2 weeks. They definitely made a lifetime customer out of me.

Sacs is awesome. They basically gave me a new 1911 because they didnt like how it locked up. All expense free.

My MC Operator has had 3 malfunctions in just over 1000 rounds. One was a bad primer in some Wolff ammo I had. I’m pretty happy with mine.

My experience with SA CS as has already been expressed was great.
Not due to a faulty set of sights or any other QC issue. I purchased a Champion 1911 in a private face to face deal, a great deal for me to boot. At any rate I get home and the gun doesn’t have the thing-a- majig to allow you to take down the slide from frame. I make a call to SA CS and a few days later I have two in hand, no questions asked and at no expense to me.

I was into an Operator the other day that I am well familiar with… did a little work on it for my friend Rob Donaldson of Strike Tactical. It has about 80K through it as of a couple months ago, only 2500 of those are jacketed.

I’ve put a couple barrels in this gun- really only needed the first, but different story. They last a long time with cast bullets although I don’t know that I can put a percentage on that.

Anyway-- the trigger pull was suddenly really hard. I looked in all the usual places, cleaned up a few things, all was well but when I put it back together-- crappy pull again. The plunger tube had come loose allowing the safety to come up and just start blocking the sear. As it was a class being put on by Rob and Jeff Chudwin, and I was there as the armorer / gopher, I happened to have a new plunger tube and the tools for same so got him all fixed up.

This gun has held up amazingly well. Mind you, the plunger tube, safeties, ejector, FP stop and maybe a few more and MIM parts. This plunger tub is the first actual broken part (the rear stud broke at the plunger tube body). I would normally not be surprised to have this part come loose at anywhere from round one (loose outta the box, seen it) to-- sometime later. To go bad after 80K rounds-- not bad at all.

Is this OK? I’ve talked about it on LTW although lost a lot of the pics… http://forum.ltwguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9204

I am not at all surprised to hear of the excellent CS. Years ago I bought a new Lightweight Ultra Compact 1911 from them and the safety seemed very loose, barely a detent. I made a phone call, returned it to Springfield and received it back a week later. Perfect crisp detent without being stiff. My next 1911 will be a Springfield.

I’ve been eyeballing the MC Operator for a while now. May have to buy it now…

My first 1911 was a TRP and I was so thrilled with that pistol that I’ve bought nothing but Springfields for my 1911 needs ever since.

I’ve used their custom shop services a couple of times with great results and expect no less from this company.

I see no reason to go to the other “semi-custom” manufacturers for any of my 1911 needs. Anything I can dream up, SACS can do to my guns…

Just be prepared to wait a long time if you want a CS gun. It appears as though they are focusing most of their time/energy on the XDM these days. They are so back-logged with XDM orders/production that they have turned down entire LEO department orders recently. So, CS order fulfillment is waaay down on the priority list. I’ve had 3 CS guns on order for nearly 7 months now, with no light at the end of the tunnel (and abrasive/confrontational attitude the two times I’ve called for status updates). YMMV.

Wait times for the Professional and Professional Light Rail are edging into the 2 year mark currently.

Waiting a 12-14 months for a full custom is nothing out of the ordinary for any decent gunsmith. Hell, other shops stop accepting orders for years at a time. Im glad SACS still takes on new orders if their customers dont mind waiting.

I’ve had several 1911’s from the custom shop, and they have always been top notch.

I have a TRP Operator that was worked over by SACS. It’s at my local gun store for sale. Anybody interested let me know. I have less than 200 rounds through it. Shoots great and looks brand new.

This isn’t the place to sale your firearm. We have a specific exchange sub forum for that.

I have been pondering the idea of getting a Springfield Armory A-1 1911 Micro Compact in OD, with night sights.
I have had little luck trying to find this particular 1911.
Any way if anybody hears anything please send my way.

Any ideas where I might find one?
Thanks

PM sent.

Kudos to Springfield for handling this and in an expedient manner. Great customer service like this goes a long way and is more effective than advertisement.

Does not surprise me.

I have a lowly stainless GI … an Imbal made 1911 and the front sight came loose from its stake and flew off during firing.

I called Springfield and told them about it and they sent me a set of the 3-dot sights that come on the Mil-Spec 1911 for free! The CS rep said they were better sights and would fit the tenon/dovetail on my GI and I would like them better.

This was a lowly GI model and I had owned the thing for a few years.

I called Springfield on a whim…expecting nothing and got great service.

They seem to have very good service and I have to say that for a cheap 1911…that silly GI runs really well and has from day one.

Why are you selling? I am thinking about a TRP operator as my next 1911.

I had a very similar experience with SA CS. They have good folks dealing with the public and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from them again based on my experiences with the company.

I only wish they would move.
