I don’t post much, but when somebody does it right and deserves recognition, it has to be said. I recently pruchased a Springfield 1911 LW Operator. This is one of many 1911’s I’ve purchased from various reputable manufacturers over 20 years.
After having shot about 500 rounds through the weapon in about a 3 month period, I observed that the front sight tritium was dead/ expired/ nada. Springfield does not manufacture the sights, Trijicon does.
I called the company expecting (possibly) the “it’s not our problem” line. Theoretically, it’s not. Within one minute of hanging up, I had a Fedex label emailed to me with a 2 week promise of return of the slide. I hear 2 weeks and think of the movie “the money pit”. Everything takes two weeks when the actual translation means 2 months.
A week and a half later, the slide is at my door with a new sight. No questions, no cost, no problem. If you’re looking at a Springfield, looking for a base line 1911 (and the custom pistol is out of reach) know that their support is excellent and quality is top shelf for a mass produced 1911 series pistol. FYI, it runs great.
Great story, I love hearing about great CS.
Sent with verbal blunt force trauma
That has been my experience with SA as well. Everyone puts out a defect from time to time. Admit it, fix it and move on.
Agreed. Stories like these make me want to go and buy something even if its the last thing I need.
I loved my Springfield, and SA always had great customer service with me.
That’s great customer service.
I will agree that Springfield’s customer service is top notch. They took real good care of me recently on a 1911 I purchased in 2004 for an issue that was not a problem but simply something that was not to my liking.
They have always had great CS.
I had similar experiences.
This is one of many stories I have heard about sa’s great service. However at some point you must question if so many people are having a great experience in this regard - how many products slip out the door with mistakes. The best Cs is that which you never need because everything was 100% in the first place.
Some of this may be due to the fact Springfield doesn’t actually make anything - they either import complete guns from Croatia brazil and elsewhere or assemble imported parts here in the states. I have and still own some SA products I am satisfied with, but it has always struck me as deceptive how they market the oldest name in American firearms when none of the product line actually is.
Wow good to know they make nothing and the SACS guns are made in Brazil as well oh wealth of knowledge. And yes SA really should go through the parts they get from other manufacturers assuming that those parts are bad.
Maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll go the way of alot of the other 1911 mfg’s and have zero CS on the back end.
I guess the real meaning of this story is the gun functioned fine, the front sight from a prestigious manufacturer failed and they really didn’t have to handle the problem…but they did. I have no idea what other problems the others are referring to. I’ve seen many a weapons from high end manufacturers fail and had the manufacturers pass the buck onto the end user when it was clearly a flaw. I consider this level of service above and beyond because it wasn’t really their fault yet they managed it. I’ve had this experience with only two other companies… and I use their systems/ parts partly because they work really well and partly because of the support I get.
+1 for Springfield customer service
I recently sent back my TRP because it was shooting about 3-4" right at 25 yards. Not a huge deal, but it was bothering me.
Springfield paid for the round trip, replaced sights with a new set of Trijicons, and included the target after test firing… all within 2 weeks.
This has certainly been my experience as well.
my Range Officer runs great, but its assuring knowing that the CS is there.
Hmm, my left Trijicon dot has always been a bit weak. The gun isn’t exactly new anymore. Maybe I should call them. How long is the SA warranty?
Lifetime warranty; however, not on the tritium. Nevertheless, it can’t hurt to call them. They may take care of it anyways.
Springfield Armory Customer Service is second to none.
I have had excellent service from SA warranty. Both with 1911’s and M1a’s. The two SA 1911’s(loaded (2005) and a GI (2010)) I currently own have needed nothing in the way of warranty work.
My next 1911 will be a Springfield Armory pistol. They have a stellar lineup of 1911’s and amazing CS.
