I know froglube makes a solvent but being at 25 bucks for 8oz’s is steep. What do you guys use when it’s time to remove copper fouling? I have about 2-2500 rounds down the pipe and I notice the groups are opening up. Seems like it time to remove copper.
gunzilla’s copperzilla. all natural like the frog lube so it won’t cause problems you might run into using a synthetic with the frog lube.
I don’t use Frog Lube but for a copper solvent I typically use Sweets 7.62 no matter the brand of lube I use on the gun.
If you’re concerned about solvent residue affecting whatever lube you use,then run a patch or two of 90%+ isopropyl alcohol through the bore,dry patch and then apply your lube to the bore for protection/storage.I typically do this when using any bore solvent,especially strong copper solvents like Sweets.
Clean the carbon out, but I will not clean the copper out unless I am seeing my poi shifting.
I also use sweets but only when I think I may have a copper build up. I clean every time I shoot with hoppes 9 and do not have much problem with copper building up.
correct, but as I stated the groups are opening up and thus believe I need to clean the copper out and re-season the barrel. On average how many rounds does it take for the groups to come back together, on average. 5-10-20-100?
Oh sorry, I must have read over that. It’s different for every gun. The barrels I have had and seen were about 30-60 rounds before I started to see them go back to where they are releably acceptable.
