How many times have you heard “If we can send a man to the Moon, we can…”? The “we can” part always being some big government program. The point is that government can engineer big projects but can’t solve social problems. Really, the government is not so good at engineering big projects in recent years. NASA is no longer a great engineering organization but a great bureaucracy. Maybe we should say “If the Government can’t fly five Space Shuttles for ten times the projected cost without blowing up two of them killing both crews then the Government can’t work miracles like…” The “…” being “ending crime”, “ending poverty”, “ensuring equality” or any one of six dozen other pie in the sky goals.
If you have any interest in society or politics, you should read NRO.
Obama/Pelosi/Reid cut NASA spending and now we will have to rely on the Russians to get into space.
He refocused NASA to work with muslims and ‘tackle’ global warming.
We’ll not have our man on the moon moment of this current era because of the massive social spending and waste of resources the left has been pushing. Lots of the NASA people with the brains as well as the contractors making space craft and parts have been laid off because of Obama.
Just look at him praising China while shitting on our country. Why are we praising commies who treat their own people like garbage? Why are we going to be reliant on Putin to get us into space? Obama is handing over top dog status we have had for decades to commies and ex-KGB agents. Remember when he said our image in the world has been fixed? To him that means taking the US down a few notches.
And India. I’m tired of hearing about that shithole and how smart they are.
Indians are not smarter than Americans. They are just cheaper. Once again, thank the globalists
Furthermore India is a damn sewer. It’s like Africa with straighter hair and slightly less AIDS. I wouldn’t trade living in the USA for India for a second even if they do have more PHD’s trouble shooting MSN messenger per capita
NASA started out as the greatest engineering organization ever, by far. Now it is just another big bureaucracy. The United States is headed towards second rate status in a hurry. Folks think it can’t happen to such a great, rich and powerful nation. They also thought the Soviet Union would endure. I think the root cause of NASA’s problems and our problems as a nation are the idea that the US Government can do everything, solve every problem, right every wrong. The problem with that is simply that you can’t do everything. An individual can’t do everything. You can only be really good at a few things. Same with the government. A government that tries to do everything is going to do nothing well. Prove me wrong. Show me an individual that has excelled without focus. Show me an organization that has excelled without focus.
I got in an argument with a liberal weenie over NASA and the ending of the shuttle program before having an alternative. I used the argument about putting up and repairing military GPS satellites that we use for Jdams and the like and that they’d be the first one in the streets when Jdams were landing in people houses. And second, we now have to rely on Russia to put us into space to fix out own satellites.
Nobody can think ahead or think for themselves anymore
