If it came down to 3 handguns???

Reading all these different threads on the Handgun side of M4Carbine.net I thought about what 3(we love TOP THREES…Don’t we??)HANDGUNS would I keep for defensive carry if I had to boil it down to that.

My list:
1: A 1911 Full-Frame(Gov’t) .45 ACP
2: A GLOCK 19 9mm, of course…go anywhere do anything pistol
3: A Smith J-frame(Airweight) as a BUG or extreme warm weather/min.clothes
carry.

WHAT DO YOU THINK???

That is a great list for urban use.

In a rural/wilderness area, I might consider adding substituting a large bore revolver for one of the others…

Good choices; mine would be:

 - Glock 17/Glock 19

 - Ruger GP100 4" Adjustable Sight model

 - Ruger P89 (Yep, my P89 made shortly before Ruger chose to discontinue
them is, believe it or not, an absolute tack driver, and as reliable as my
    Glocks)

Best, Jon

[ol][li] Mine
[/li][li] My back-up
[/li][*] The bag guy’s[/ol]

G19 just because it’s easy to wrench on and parts are all over the place

P228 (I have multiples of these. Do they “count”? )

quality .22LR revolver. Smith makes one in Ti, IIRC. I forget the nomencalture. They seem very handy, though.

Generally thinking of combative/survival combos:

A Glock 19
A Glock 20
A Thomspson Center Encore in 308.

M&P45
M&P9c
G-23

As per my personal collection (if one could call my meager few a collection)

M&P 40C
Taurus 605
Taurus Tracker .44mag

Interesting; for a while I carried one each of the above as my daily off duty weapons when fully dressed. I’d put the Glock in a fanny pack when jogging or going to the gym. Good choices, and I agree with DocGKR about the large bore revolver; my dealer is looking for a 4" Redhawk for me.

  1. full sized 1911
  2. P228
  3. Ruger MkII
  1. Full size 1911

  2. Glock 19

  3. S&W Mod.19-2,2 1/2 inch. (had his one for 39 years,sure won’t part with it now. )

  1. G17 (and I carry the AA .22 LR conversion too)…I’m counting that as 1

  2. G26

  3. 1911

if you don’t want to let me count the AA .22 LR conversion then…

  1. G17

  2. G17 w/ .22 LR AA Conversion

  3. G26

  1. 1911

  2. G19/G17/G34 any of the above.

  3. Ruger Blackhawk, .357/.38sp/9mm conversion

1911 5"
1911 commander
air weight 38/357

I think your a smart man, those would be my choices exactly.

I would pick the following:

M1911 Govt model
Browning High Power
CZ-75

For you guys choosing glock 19 , why 9mm ?

Why not?

Let’s not start a caliber war here but the 9mm does everything I need it to do. It’s as effective as any other round and is cheaper. Modern 9mm rounds have came a long way…

HK45 - cuz it goes bang every time

Colt Commander 45 - I love the 1911, all hail JMB

Ruger MkII .22 lr - its accurate enough to feed me
