I want to take a not so common metal framed pistol that’s possibly outdated or usually a safe queen and make it tactical. Maybe matte Cerakote it, re-contour a Dawson rail to fit it, throw some good sights at it, etcetera.
Right now I’m thinking a S&W 39. Anyone got any other suggestions? Nothing pricey like a P210, but nothing like a Bryco.
Yeah, I saw that coming, but I’ve already indulged myself in the tactical 1911.
The S&W 39s are a good basis for some custom work. You should check out some of the Devel custom Smiths if you need inspiration.
I’ve been a fan of Devel since Kelsey was murdered. Sadly it took the publicity of his death to turn me on to his work. As a mixture of Todd and your posts, this has always been my favorite 1911 appearance wise, and a Dawson rail would look right at home on it.
