I get a message saying I don’t have enough privilege or something or else I’m waiting to be approved but I’ve been a member for a long time and have a lot of posts. What happened that I can’t participate?

If it’s a GD thread, you do not have the required number of posts. That’s been the policy here for seven years. It’s also a sticky in this subforum.
If it’s an EE thread, you can only reply in your own thread.
Can you post a link to the thread you are trying to post in? That will allow us to do some digging. Thanks.
Ok, one of them was in the general and I guess I wasn’t aware of the really high post count requirement. I thought I had participated previously but I guess not. I’ll watch more carefully where and when and work on participating more to be able to participate fully.
Hard to get your post count up, without being able to post in the gD; but, I’m working on the problem.
Just be patient, read threads, ask questions. Seems like just yesterday that it seemed like it’d be forever before I unlocked GD…
The important thing is, be an engaged member of the community. 
Everyone wants to be a part of GD until ye be.
Give it time, you’ll have angst for posts outside of GD within 100 posts after reaching 200.
