I’m not too bad with a 20 LPI checking file. It gives them just enough grip to be helpful but not too much! Enjoy…just one more idea to add the mix!

Damn…Great job man. Better then I can do!
Thanks! Hell, I was surprised how quick it was and I just had to clean it up with a wire brush on the Dremel. If I had tried to heat stipple it would have been a damn nasty waste of a perfectly good P-Mag! Now the file is expensive, but I had it in the tool box so essentially it was free! I like the feel better and better yet it’s just grip not sharp! I hope it was helpful! Now I just have to do the other 13:eek::eek:!
I would actually checker them if I could figure out a good way to get the file going in the opposite direction without screwing it up…more to come on that…I guess I have 1 more tries:D!

I like it! Very creative idea!
Did you actually file it to get it that way, or use a torch or something to heat up the file and “brand” it in so to speak to get the checkering?
Awesome idea, looks great man!
looks good I used a soldering iron on mine you talk about some grippage, it sticks to your hand, its not near as pretty as yours though
This made me curious. Has anyone ever tried heating a file or any knurled metal surface and pressing it against the Pmag?
The heating idea is interesting…for this I just cut the line in and finished it by using a wire brush on the Dremel! I would think you have to have a course file to make anything from it and come to think of it, wouldn’t it leave a reverse pattern on the mag? I may try to actually checker one to see if I can make it work well as I prefer checkered to serrated most of the time! I also think there is more control over the depth and pattern when cutting over heating but JMHO!

It doesn’t look like you suck with a soldering iron. In fact, it looks to have turned out pretty well. Excellent job and great idea.
I might have to try this. When, and if I do, I’ll post some pics. Show you how to really suck with a soldering iron!
Be careful , I used a 20 LPI checkering file NOT a soldering iron!

Yeah ok, I was kinda curious about that. From what I understood I thought you meant you had filed a piece of plastic then soldered it on. I have a buddy that tryed something relatively similar to this with a magpul xtr rail panel (turned out pretty well). So when I read that I just automatically assumed that’s what you meant. I tend to get ahead of myself.
