I refused my approved Form 4 at Silencer Shop

The address they put on the form was lined out and they had to Hand Wright it in. *uck That. It looks tacky as shit doing error corrections on official forms. I told him to not even think about sending that out to my house I would return to sender. This is something I am going to have for the rest of my life. I don’t need forms that have error corrections on them. He told me when I gave him my forms the address was correct but that during that time they moved. 9.5 months for nothing Really pissed off. I don’t really buy the story. Plus I have OCD.

He told me he was going to void it or something and now I have to E-file this time around. I also have to send another $200 but I will get my First $200 back from the ATF. This was my first order from them too. I don’t know anything about E-file other then the problems so I am guessing E-file is done on his side and if its not he is going to do it for me because I don’t really want any part of it. Paper was fine for me. =(

My Form 1 was done completely by hand…but there were no corrections  Seems like if it was approved, why decline? But, I dont have OCD.

Another " clog up the system for non-issues " issue. Chances are you will never be asked for paperwork. Your life is too easy if this is all you have to be upset about.

A little silly I think but I’m not OCD either. It’s your call so whatever floats your boat.

I understand self-diagnosed OCD and all, but what you describe doesn’t make any sense.

Wow…

Jeez…who’s going to see it? That is a bizarre story, but then I don’t get the mindset of those hoarders on TV either.

I’m going to presume that you don’t actually have OCD. However, if you did I don’t know if I’d want you owning a firearm, much less an NFA item.

That being said, don’t do that again if it happens; you’re making it worse for everyone else.

People are currently waiting over a year for their stuff to be filed. Way to jam them up and make there shit take longer because you don’t like how it’s spelled. Sounds like a dick move to me.

Hahahahaha. What the diddlyfook?!

I’d politely suggest, in all respectful seriousness, that you get assistance for your OCD. The ATF allows handwritten corrections to forms, as long as they are neatly written. It’s part of the text on the letter they send back when they request changes to a form. If it upsets you enough to start over, then more power to you, but please understand that the cost and trouble of starting over is on you, for refusing an approved Form 4.

I have had to type, send and receive a LOT of NFA paperwork over the last decade at our retail location, and if someone told me they didn’t want their form because it was corrected by hand, I’d go with it - but I’d try to talk them out of it first, for their sake. I might also be tempted to charge them $50 again for the paperwork, as a correction made to show the current operating location of the FFL, doesn’t represent a mistake on the part of the store, it represents the mandatory compliance the ATF requires to approve the form.

I had one sent back to my dealer for a error. He simply whited it out and rewrote it. Simple. You cant even see it on my travel copy.

That’s going to be a lot of wasted time waiting for another copy. My FFL somehow had some water or some type of liquid drip three spots on my form 4, so what?

I don’t think white out is kosher with the ATF.

Its times like these I wish I were a mod.

More like OCPD traits…

OP, this is the biggest non-issue I’ve ever read and frankly, maybe you should not be in the NFA game is this kind of stuff bothers you.

Crap happens, the ATF allows corrections and you’ve wasted both your time and your dealer’s time by wanting a perfect form.

My Form 1 was returned for correction due to my dickup. They sent it back with the sections to be highlighted. I crossed out the incorrect information and corrected it per ATF regs.

Frankly, I’d say “deal with it, come pick up your can”. But that’s probably why I don’t work in customer service.
