I really wish there was more gray gear/clothing available.

Gray makes the most sense for us city folks, and gray clothing is vastly more low key than walking around in multicam or coyote brown. I recently bought a Camelbak Hawg in foliage, and the color was actually more of a straight gray than grayish/green. Fantastic color and I’ve been trying to find matching gear ever since. Most manufacturer’s foliage gear is a bit too green for my blood. However it looks like a few companies are starting to release gear in gray (Magpul, Arcteryx, and LBT to name a few). Now if only more companies would follow.

Anybody know any companies that make gray molle gear? I know Emdom used to (either that or they made a special batch for MM), but now it looks like they don’t make much of anything :frowning:

TAD Gear offers most if their clothing in UE grey. I just picked up a Ranger hoodie in grey because I have too much brown and green.

I picked up one as well in the above grey. Nice piece.

I like gray for discreet carry gear. It blends well in a variety of developed environments, as well as the outdoors. Eagle has done several pieces in a nice flat gray color, including their E&E bag, messenger bag, CCW AIII pack, discreet rifle bags, and a few others. I believe LBT did a few too. Unfortunately, not a lot of pouches. Then again, if you’re attaching external pouches you’re losing discretion.

During bag color surveys in crowds or public venues, I’ve had trouble counting the grays because they usually stand out less.

Did quite a bit of deliberate work with the Eagle E&E. Check out some of the contrasts with the Eagle khaki. This bag has passed in a bunch of non-permissive environments with various loads.

TAD is great but they make Arcteryx look like a bargain. That and they can never keep the configurations that I want in stock.

EMDOM introduced SDU grey back in 2008, and i immediately liked it as a colour for nylon gear. to me, it just made more sense than black. it doesn’t look too ‘military/LE’ nor ‘ninja’ like black.
EMDOM is a small company, so oftentimes, they’ll make limited numbers of a new colour to test the market, in only a few items. it was slow at first, which is why they didn’t make more, but it’s catching on now, and all the grey stuff they made sold out.
I’ve really been pushing EMDOM to get rid of ACU and expand the number of items made in SDU grey (all the popular ones), and it looks like that’s what’s going to happen. SDU grey stuff will be coming.

Definitely would love to see more gray or navy blue gear; black is too dark for any environment. My preference is for ranger/smoke green, as coyote/FDE looks brighter to me and camo pattern really stand out in an urban setting.

ACU… the sooner we move on and forget about it, the better.

That’s fantastic news! I guess I’ll just stick with my khaki nylon gear for the time being. It’s funny, this thread was inspired by me checking out your Arcteryx Drac jacket in Wolf gray review. That jacket combined with the gray Emdom gear looked awesome together!

I prefer grey stuff as well. Holy 235.00 for a hoodie :fie:

So you’re the guy who bought the last large UE gray ranger hoodie-that was gonna be my bitrthday present to myself! Edit: looks like they’re back in stock.

I lean toward gray/foliage colors for my gear and clothes as well. As mentioned, it works well outdoors and doesn’t make you stand out if you’re in a populated area.

If you aren’t already aware, www.predatorbdu.com has close outs on propper APCU soft shells in Alpha green-the color is a little darker than foliage.

$235 for something that will nearly outlast you. Not to mention you will not find anything else with comparable materials or features, and it’s the ONLY one I now of that’s made in the US. At least the only one with said features. And once you’ve owned it and used it for a week you’ll wonder what took you so long to buy one.

off topic but look at kuiu.com

they make high quality hunting gear, they have some grey in the closeout section

After those overpriced JOKERS lost security on our Credit Card info, I won’t buy from them anymore.

I mean… you want a HUNDO for a pair of pants, then you better spend a little of the margin on decent security, JACK!

Not clothing but gear wize, Kifaru makes a nice grey color they call foliage. Mostly packs and pouches, no mag pouches or stuff like that.
I carry a foliage xray g2 with me daily and for the most part it blends well. The only draw back is when someone notices it for what it is I tend to feel uneasy because of the cost and the ease with which someone coukd steal it. Quality is second to none.

TAG makes nice packs as well, theyre clothing seems top notch from the limited pieces ive had my hands on.

That, and their unabashed love and support for VERY questionable organizations that often clash with many of TAD’s law enforcement customers (including ME). F___ TAD Gear. I hope they reap what they’ve sown when it comes to whom they’ve been cozying up to. They’ll never get another penny from me, and haven’t for a couple of years now.

I’ll gladly support Arc’teryx even though they’re made overseas. Their non-USA manufacturing reflects the reality of the lack of skilled sewers and fabricators in this country. They use technologies that simply aren’t available here. And if you are going to push the whole ‘buy USA or don’t buy at all’ thing, why are you using an Aimpoint…?

Because supporting Communists in China and Vietnam is the same thing as supporting capitalists in Sweden, right?

You really do need to share your story of how you’ve never bought anything made in China…

What about the computer you’re reading this on. No Chinese components?

Hey guys, this could be a pretty decent thread. Let’s not muddy it up with more country of origin crap. Take it to PM, or start a different thread please?

To me, Coyote only stands out to people who know what it is. If I ask my wife what color my bag is and if she thinks anything about it from the color she just says brown and no.
