I Need some pants!!

No, I’m not walking around naked, but I was searching for some pants to buy. What I’m looking for is a pair that has inserts for knee pads and also that has two pockets built specifically for AR type mags. Also, hopefully they are built very well and don’t cost too much. Researching through some threads on here, I have found that I like the idea of minimalist style gear.
Thanks Beforehand:cool:

Out of curiosity, what’s the pants purpose? Other than keeping the snake in the cage, ED wear, class, training, EOTWAWKI wear for the next 95 days pants.

After doing a similar search, I found that a lot of users seem unhappy with the choices out there. Many are a little “too” tactical for my tastes, or just too expensive to take a chance on mail order. So my preference are carharts. If I can swallow the price I may one day buy some of the high-end hiking pants. That doesn’t really fit what you’re asking for at all, so this is my meagerest of meager contributions.

Well hopefully I will get to takes some carbine classes with these pants and also durable enough EOTWAWKI if there ever was a need.

I’ve been a pretty big fan of the Vertx pants during the warmer months of the year. For colder months I’ve been pretty fond of the heavier duck Carharts and Mountain Khakis. I have some ArborWear pants on order and hope they will work well. None are the overly “tacticool” type, but have performed very well for me thus far.

Love my Force 10’s from TAD gear, but unless you’re on top of them when they drop good luck getting a pair (unless your a real little guy), my next favourite are Eotac.

TAD’s are expensive but I find they last and you get exactly what you pay for with regards to them. Eotac’s are a little cheaper and I have no quality issues with them either.

Yeah my brother has some tad gear pants that he likes a lot and those force 10s do seem to have exactly what I’m looking but unfortunately they don’t have my size in stock. Still considering more options if anybody has any. I really want these pants to be long lasting.

The Carhartt duck pants with double knees are one of my favorites. Kuhl brand pants are good as well. I found that I was in need of some durable cargo pants and tried the Carhartt cargos and the Wrangler Riggs Wear Ranger pant. Both work great, the Ranger pants are bit heavier with double knees and Cordura lined back pockets for about $35 bucks.

Those wranglers look like a really good buy. I just found this deal on the eotac operator pants and ordered some. Be aware though they charge a lot for shipping and remember to use stimulus as a coupon code for 10% off. Thanks for all the help and keep the replies coming just in case I want to buy another pair or just for reference.

These should last about a million years.

Can’t go wrong with Carhartt or Eotac. The Eotac has knee pad inserts if you’re wanting that option. They also offer several styles including a discreet pant.

Carhartt, EOTAC, or maybe how about them there Craghoppers?

Or Railriders.

There are so many options now, it’s crazy.

eta : checking out the Craghoppers site - I really like the looks of the winter weight Kiwi Trousers -

I have found this resource to be helpful: http://tacticalpants.com/tactical-pants-guide

I’ve got a pair of Vertx pants that fit the bill for me for casual pants I can wear around the town on the weekend. I just got (yesterday) a pair of LA Police Gear Operator Tactical Pants for the “working in the garage/yard”, hunting or range pants. They will accommodate the 5.11 knee pads with a little trimming. Got the pads, but I haven’t put them in the pants yet. The LA pants are a little rough on the finish out of the stitching, but for $20 my expectations were low. Only time will tell on how they hold up.

Another vote for Vertx, I have 2 pair I have put through the paces and they have held up great. I have a pair of the aforementioned Craghoppers and to me, they are not near as quality as the Vertx.

Vertx and carhartt for me…

That is an excellent resource, thanks a lot for posting.

+1 Carhartt

Since you mentioned these, how about the Duluth Fire Hose work pant with the cargo pockets, any experience with those? They look like my double knee Carhartts with cargo pockets, so I may order a pair to try out, but looking for soem end user opinions.

I haven’t any but I bet they kick ass.

You can’t go wrong with Duluth. Their jeans are my favorite as well.

Honestly, I roll with cheaper pants from Old Navy for general day to day use. If I beat them up and ruin them, they were only $10 so no big loss.
