I have a M4 flat top with Aimpoint Comp M3, a LaRue Tactical 150 mount and stock front sight. Can any one give me there opinion on a good rear sight for this combination?
Larue Buis - $89 fixed rear sight, functions fine and has the nice larue on/off zero reliability.
Troy flip up sight - about $140 retail, nice and out of the way, there when you need it.
I have an Aimpoint Comp ML3 and was thinking of trying out the < GG&G MAD.BUIS > along with the accompanying < Spring Actuated Flip Up Front Sight >, unless of course, someone here that’s experienced this particular setup says otherwise.
Hope you find what you’re looking for and Enjoy!
Depends…
Do you want a flip-up, or a fixed rear sight?
Troy flip up rear!
Fixed - Larue or LMT
Flip up - Troy
Troy would be an excellent choice.
Ijust placed an order for the Larue.
Thanks,
I got one of them too
posted both because they’re both excellent choices!
With a red dot I am finding I prefer a fixed rear. That said I like my LMT chopped carrying handle (basically the same as the LMT Rear BUIS). Regardless you won’t go wrong with the LaRue.
i’ve ordered an LMT fixed rear.
What kind of co-witness do you get with this set up? Absolute, center of Aimpoint co-witness or lower 1/3 or other?
How do you like it?
I have a Comp M3 and Larue 150 on the way and just wanting to know how you like your set up.
Thanks.
An Aimpoint in a Larue mount will give you a lower 1.3 cowitness which gets the irons sufficiently out of the way to be able to run a fixed rear sight and not have it interfere with your sight picture.
The mount determines the cowitness, not the iron sight.
To the original topic…
I also use the Larue when I want a fixed and Troy when I want a flip, but I think the new DD rear will probably be a better option on the rear, and the low price of the new Magpul plastic sights will certainly cut into Troy’s sales.
FWIW, Troy does have a fixed rear, but I haven’t seen one or no anyone running one yet.
The iron sites are in the lower 1/3 quadrant of the aim point. We went to the range Sunday and zeroed the sites. It is a great set up. I use the LaRue Tactical Comp M2 RAS II Mount QD LT-152. This mount is what determines the site picture. I spoke with Aimpoint and this is the Mil. Spec. set up. If you go with this set up, as I found out this weekend, you will need the YHM .040 taller front site post to zero properly, $5.50 through Bushmaster. The stock post has to be screwed out beyond the retainer pin to get the proper alignment. Good luck.
Troy makes good sights.
