Hay guys I have done a bit of research on this my self and it seams the supressor is at least possable. But I dont know about the SBR???
I have planed on applying for my class 3 or 4 FFL just to get one of these I have a clean record am a vet and the wife is in law enforcement.
What ever you know is helpfull in this case.

That’s a big “NO WAY!” for either of those items. New York has highly restrictive laws with regards to NFA items.
You might be able to purchase an “AOW” depending on your locality.
E: I looked up a couple of NFA Item check-lists that show state by state what items are legal. for New York:
NO for machineguns
NO for SBR’s
NO for SBS
NO for Supressor
NO for explosive D.D.
YES for large-bore D.D.
YES for AOW
So theoretically you could own an M203, or an M79, or a Serbu Super Shorty, or a zip-gun.
I thin k you may be wrong on the supressor one. I was thinking if I got a class 4 I could get one.

I don’t know what a class 4 is and never heard of it before.
Only if you’re law enforcement. LEOs are exempt from all restrictions and don’t require “duty use” as a basis for ownership. Problem is getting the CLEO signature but I have yet to determine if a trust is allowed for LEOs.
Negative, only LE and SOT 7s can have those in NY and you have to notify state police, everything else must be drop shipped. To apply for anything on form 7 you need a NYS gunsmith/gundealer permit.

I definitely know of a sergeant who owns a sbs and I’ve visited a class 3 dealer who had articles about 2 nypd officers who purchased select fire m-16’s years ago but they both lived upstate. Any idea if a trust is legit for this sort of thing?
Until last year it was illegal even for manufacturers to make suppressors in NY. There are all kinds of stories because enforcement is spotty but you do not want to risk it. There is a type of SBS that are actually AOWs which are legal on a pistol permit.
I know what you mean. ATF specifically told me that suppressors are GTG for LEO. The sbs the sgt has is not an aow. Remington 870 with folding stock and something like a 12 inch barrel I believe and he filled out the atf form with cleo signature. We don’t carry on permits but some jurisdictions may not like their cops owning such items.
That’s such bullshit that the OP can go and serve his country abroad and use a MK 18…aka SBR while doing so, but when he returns to his great State of NY he is told he cannot use a SBR to protect himself and his family. Sorry brother, I say move the hell out the first chance you get.
Just get a nice 16" middy with a pinned comp and no bayo lug (still can’t get over how stupid all THAT is).

Hay guys thanks. It does suck for sure I wish I could move then maybe I could have a chance at the job I want and pay less taxes. I cant go cause my wife has a great job.
The reason I started all this was cause my best friend was told by his SGT in the NYSP that it was possable to own. Turns out just not for me. Makes me real mad to say the least.
NY truely does suck! I was born and raised there and spent a good portion of the past 39 years there too. When I’m not downrange working as a contractor my “home” is in WNY. We’ve lived all over the states and in the UK over the years but home is still rural WNY. It’s beautiful, the hunting is great, and its quiet. But taxes are high, work is tough to come by, and the firearms laws are garbage!
When I’m done over there this time around we are moving! There are to many things that we just can’t have and it just sucks ass. An SBR with a muffler are on the short list along with a can for my new Skunkworks rifle. Why is it so bad to have SBR’s and cans? Come on NY, get with the program!
So for now the best I can do is a 14.5" LMT with a pinned muzzle device to make it 16.1" oal and a pinned stock. How stupid is that?:sad:
I know your pain. Same goes for the BS hughes amendment. Pay a ton of tax money to have the ATF check everything about you (probably your measurements too) and have your name all over it. How many times has a legal NFA item been used illegally? ONCE! But politicians can kill people in their cars or stop paying taxes. No worries. I plan on fleeing this craptastic state as soon as I can.

I hope that was a quote from animal farm. I’m not a fan of the current anti-second amendment culture in NY but I don’t make the rules. I’m stuck in NY and I can’t escape at the moment. At least some folks live in rights-friendly states. :sad:
Sure was. 
My wife’s from Cazenovia, NY and it’s a beautiful place that’s great for raising kids but there’s no way I’d live there due to their anti-gun laws and winter’s that are way too long.
