So, I’ve been shooting a P320 in 9MM for a couple months now and love it. It is the gun with which I’m most accurate and I love the handling, factory sights and reliability.
Just ordered a new P250 in .40 and can’t wait to try it out. Will be interesting to see if the DAO trigger is as good as I’ve read about.
in my experience the 250 is garbage. The trigger is absolutely horrible.
As a DAO trigger it seems to be a good one. If you like DAO and everything it entails you shouldn’t mind the P250. Although my DAO experience is not extensive…
I don’t think a single good word has been spoken about the 250. What’s special about the 320 is the striker fired action.
I dry fired a P250 in a gun store, the DAO trigger is fine, i grow up shooting revolvers. Just stage the trigger and you will be fine. For the short money the P250 is a best buy.
Agreed 100%…probably the only Sig I don’t like. The P320 on the other hand is the bees knees!
For the short money IMO, the 2022 (DA/SA) with night sights is an awesome deal as well…can you find them in the $400+ range!

That might be the case but try finding a good holster in stock and reasonably quickly if you plan to carry it. I’ve had several people ask about them but have to special order them from Blade Tech and they’re actually deleted from their main pricing list. They only make it because it’s still listed on their site. Oddly not very common or popular at least around me but many of the manufacturers I deal with don’t make holsters for them. RCS does but only for the Gen 1 and the SP2340, which is a non-railed model from what I can find.
I’ve owned several P250’s (since replaced w/P320’s) and all were accurate w/excellent DAO triggers. The only problem I ever encountered was the occasional light strike w/hard-primered GECO FMJ. The only reason I went w/the P320 was the P250’s slower followup shots.

Interesting that some have described it so negatively. Have you guys who absolutely hate it shot it much? In my research, a lot of what I found indicated that the weapons might be quite underrated. Calling the pricing reasonable might be an understatement.
I have a .40 USP compact LEM and I consider that to be a pretty bad DA trigger, but I’m still reasonably accurate with it. Was able to dry fire a compact P250 at the range and thought the trigger pull was lighter than I expected.
The first pistol I bought was an SP2022 9mm for my CCW & later bought a P250 FS .40 S&W for my home defense backup.
After a few months of practice with the DAO P250, I now find myself more proficient with this gun in grouping my three shots from a holster draw at 10-15 meters. I must admit it took me a few weeks to master the trigger staging technic & now use my P250 as my CCW.
The only time i have heard positive things from anyone about the 250 were from people either trying to sell me one or trade me it ib exchange for my Glock. I tend to consider that a bit of a clue.
That said, I think the piss poor rap that the 250 has is mostly due from initial reports early on about function issues. Have heard claims revised/second gen? Models were updated and better from reports i have heard but there have been few if any tests or reviews of it since many still have a bad taste in their mouth from other Sig antics. Also if i recall when they first hit tge market they were priced in the 600 range? That didnt help. Between the 250 i ran a few mags through and a 2022 that i got to shoot as well i have a preference for the later personally. Then again i tend to lean towards a da/sa trigger too.
Yes, they are absolutely on the Gen 2 version. It seems the Gen 1 really was an unreliable piece of crap. Bad enough to sink the reputation for the entire line.
I put several hundred rds through a pair of P250 Compact 9mm models a few years back. The trigger stroke is smooth and very light for a hammer-fired DAO. My only issues were that I would sometimes short stroke the trigger(trigger return seemed less than energetic) when shooting at speed, and my very high thumbs-forward grip interfered with the slide stop lever, preventing it from locking back on an empty mag. I have extensive experience with S&W DA revolvers and was surprised by the short stroke issue. Both the P250s were early models and IIRC I’ve heard that SIG has addressed that issue with one or more beefed up springs.
The proprietary rear sight still kills it for me. Wtf where they thinking on that one.
I wanted to like the P320. I really like the concept and what Sig was striving for, but I was disappointed that, IMO they just didn’t hit it out of the park. It is way better than the POS P250. It carries a very high bore axis for my liking. Higher than the VP90 and the trigger is decent but not all that impressive compared to the VP90 and what I can do with Glocks. The problem as I see it, is that when you try to do too many things, cover too many bases, you generally have to compromise and end up falling short on some or all of them. The one gun, fits all is a great concept but rarely achieved.
High or low bore axis? I always preferred a lower axis to higher for accuracy, along the lines of the CZ P-09 which has probably the lowest bore axis in production.

The bad reputation of the P250 has affected the P320 to this day. Many people, including myself, wouldn’t even give the P320 a second look because it is obviously a striker fired P250. The good news is the P320 seems to be a much better pistol. Be careful now trying to do revisionist history and somehow think the P250 is good to go also- things evolve for a reason. Just a word to the wise.
