I have never wanted to go on a Cruise and now, No Way

Three people are dead and at least three others are sick after a suspected outbreak of hantavirus aboard a cruise ship sailing in the Atlantic Ocean, the World Health Organization (WHO) said Sunday.

The three dead were cruise passengers on the MV Hondius, said Oceanwide Expeditions, the company that operates the ship. The vessel is currently anchored in Praia, the capital of Cape Verde, an island nation off the west coast of Africa.

Humans most commonly become infected through contact with rodents such as rats and mice, especially with their urine, droppings and saliva, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

So your not only sharing a boat with smelly unsanitary people, but Rats too. The first time I heard about this was the 70’s in New Mexico. Some of the folks are migratory out there and the rats got in the Hogon’s and in the pinoins and did what rats do.

But on a Cruise Ship?

Almost 150 people, including 17 Americans, are stranded on a cruise ship off the coast of west Africa, after a suspected hantavirus outbreak on the vessel killed at least three people and left several others ill.

The MV Hondius, operated by tour company Oceanwide Expeditions, left Ushuaia, Argentina last month on a journey through remote parts of the Atlantic Ocean. Along the way, several passengers became sick with a rapidly progressing respiratory illness, the company said.

Seven cases of the rare rodent-borne hantavirus have been identified so far, including two confirmed cases and five suspected cases, the World Health Organization (WHO) said Monday.

The vessel with 149 people on board is currently anchored off Praia, the capital of Cape Verde, an archipelago nation off the west coast of Africa, after being refused entry to the port.

There is no plan yet for disembarking the remaining crew and passengers, with Oceanwide Expeditions saying they are considering sailing on to Spain’s Canary Islands.

Cape Verde may be an answer.

Netflix has a documentary about the adventures of the Carnival Triumph in 2013.

It’s called “Poop Cruise”

Yeah, you’re not getting me on a cruise ship unless it’s the only option to see something… like Alaska, for example.

What’s crazy about it is, it doesn’t even need to have a live host at the time of the outbreak, just urine and feces present is enough for an outbreak so the urine and feces drry to small particles and you ingest them thrroug respireation.. So if a rat pooped in the flour and the flour was used to make waffles and the flour is poured from a bag to a bowl and then mixed with a mixer…..?

See how this works? Now theoretically I’m not 100% on this but at any point during the process of making the end product the feces uring mix can take place and it’s going to roll down the line unchallanged,

The first time I heard of this it was in reloation to gathering Pinon nuts, as you gather the Nuts from the Bush, you are in the same terratory as the local rodents that are eating the Nuts.

Rats being Rats, they shit where they eat, so you go out there to pick the Nuts and you stir up the feces ridden dust. Then you go back to your Hogan that you haven’t lived in, in six months and process the nuts and the Rats in the Hogan are lving large and crapping everywhere, so you get to breathe that in too.

Cheap cruises are hell but nice cruises… nice cruises are fun. Spend the extra money and you’ll see.

It actually looks rather nice, but I don’t know much about it.

The thing is, more than likely they have taken all the precautions and this is just an anomoly, could happen almost anywhere you go.

Cruise? Yeah no, not for me. If I want an all inclusive experience that might also “include” exposure to nasty diseases I’ll go to Hedo.

I have learned that the virus in the case was brought on board by two passengers who boarded in Argentina. So no rats on board for this one.

My wife and I enjoy cruising, never had any issues, we do employ common sense precautions while on board. I’m not going to try to convince anyone that should go on a cruise, in fact, with fewer unsold cabins we get better deals.

I think the Average Person has no idea how ofen they come in contact with this stuff, like everyday.

I was just reading that in 1973 some Polich Historians and Archeologists decided to open King Casmir the IVths tomb and then they proceeded to open the Coffin.

Spores from inside the Coffin got inside their lungs and killed 12 of them.

Yes, something we’ll never really know. I worked for just over a year in retail, my LGS, only got sick once, yet I was face to face with lots of people everyday. Commonsense precautions, wash hands frequently, etc.

The hantavirus is a potentially lethal virus that is normally contracted through exposure to rodent droppings, but the Andes strain, which was identified in this case, has been documented to have been transmitted from person-to-person. A giant, floating incubator like a cruise ship or, in this case, an expedition ship, would be the ideal environment for just such a pathogen. The hantavirus is a nasty little bug, too, with a mortality rate approaching 40 percent, and the Andes strain’s being transmitted from person-to-person makes it even more troublesome. What’s more, it’s hard to imagine a more rat-friendly environment than a garbage dump, which is literally a gigantic buffet table for the nasty rodents.

Leo Schilperoord was reportedly looking for a rare bird when he visited the landfill in Argentina.

If we can derive one vital health tip from this event, it would be this: Avoid rat-infested garbage dumps.

You Won’t Believe How a Simple Birdwatching Stop Created the Hantavirus Outbreak – RedState

Serious as a MF’er I want to know what he did with the clothes he wore to the Dump, specifically the Shoes or Boots because if they were exposed and he continued to wear them, specifically on board the ship, there’s a pretty good chance it wasn’t human to human

The Democrats are now blaming the Trump Administration’s reaction to the hantavirus outbreak onboard the Cruise Ship. Never Mind that it isn’t a US Flagged Ship, the Company is outside the United States and the Boat was filled with Foreigners.

Watch the Video, beacause all that Democratic Hot Air is just Bull Shit.

More Critics, I will say this for them, you need to wake the F#ck up. You’re the same folks who gave us Anthony Fauci and I think you need to think about that for a while and go sit in the corner.

And finally some common sense.

Passengers and their close contacts are at risk of hantavirus and need to follow public health guidance, but the danger for most people is near zero, officials and scientists say. Experts expect more cases in this outbreak to be identified, but they are emphatic that a hantavirus pandemic is highly unlikely.

“This is not Covid, this is not influenza. It spreads very, very differently,” Maria Van Kerkhove, director of epidemic and pandemic management at the World Health Organization (WHO), said at a briefing on Thursday. “This is not the same situation we were in six years ago … It’s very different.”

The reality is this has been here forever and it takes a series of rather rare events for it to pass from Rodent to Human. You’re not going to catch hantavirus.

No matter how much Chuck and Haseem want to scare you and blame Trump, it isn’t Trumps fault.
