Well I listened to all of everyone’s constructive and not so constructive criticism and dumped the UTG rails from my middy and got a set of Troy rails.
The differences in hardness, fit and finish are amazing. Plus the Troy rails are about a third lighter than the UTG rails.
Just don’t let my wife know I listened to common sense. It may set a precedent.
What do you expect from cheap shit made by the ChiComs.
+1 I hate that shit. I refuse to buy chinese crap. I would rather save my money for 2 or 3 months if I had to to buy quality.

No matter what Ar I show my wife she say’s they all look the same. She just confirmed this this morning. She doesn’t know what she did. Now I can bring anything into the house and she would never know. Not like she care’s what I buy anyway but still.
my wife is that way she never notices anything but she did notice the tan scar so stay away from new color rifles but railes should be good to go mine didnt notice the difference from the aimpoint to eotech swap
For a small sum…lets say the price of a new Troy rail for my build…I won’t say a thing to her.
I traded my friend a 556 for a Comp M2 She never noticed. Bad on her part. She opened up that door not me.
I just got in my DD Lite today and I am amazed and the fit and finish of it compared the ras seconds I have and how much lighter it is.
DD makes great kit.
UTG rails are what they are. Cheaper, probably not made out of as high grade aluminum as higher priced rails. But they will work for someone not needing a combat rated rail system.
The “Chinese Crap” won’t fly anymore. UTG built a factory in MI and are making the rails here now. The fit and finish is much nicer than the Taiwan made. Most of their stuff is still made in Taiwan but they are slowly moving it here. Much as they get trashed, it’s good to see a company decide to move it’s production to the U.S. while so many U.S. companies are moving operations overseas.
I’ve used some of UTG’s stuff and some actually worked pretty well. I have a rear adjustable sight that has worked well.
That said, I use Daniel Defense Lite Rails, ARMS 40’s and MI folding fronts on most of my carbines.
But with all the real American company’s why would someone buy utg even if its U.S. made.
Because it’s cheap. Honestly, someone with a range plinker that will never see any serious use probably isn’t going to be let down by a UTG rail. And if they are, the worst that’s going to happen is that their range session will be cut short. That person probably doesn’t really “need” a rail, but that’s a different matter.
My opinion is different when it comes to a rifle that people will be using to defend their life and others, but many AR owners aren’t using them for that.
I saw a set of 2-Piece UTG Rail set and they were stamped Made in U.S.A. Doesn’t USG make some rails here in country? The ones that I saw and touched looked TOP NOTCH, fit and finish good. Are they Fakes not made here. The package looked good also.

Depends on what you call crap. I ran one for 9 months during E.R.T. training with a light, vert grip and a sling swivel attachment on the side rail. It never loosened, bent, broke, or failed in any way. It was much heavier than my DD Lite and the finish was not as nice. But it did work.
But I for one do not want a shit storm over UTG. My point was, the company is producing them in the U.S., they are much nicer than the originals so far as fit and finish, and they work for someone that wants a less expensive alternative.
“Crap” is obviously in the eye of the beholder.
