I can get a M&P 15 for the same as Bushmaster. The salesman said the M&P’s are Stag parts assembled by Smith, he said they had them for awhile. He liked the bushmaster, they had been building them longer etc.
If you look at the Chart, the Smith is a better deal??? Or am I just getting a Stag that’s on the same side of the Chart?
Sorry:o
umm…
According to the Chart the Stag is still better than a Bushmaster…
I would take an M&P over a Bushmaster any day.

My understanding is that S&W makes its own parts now, or more of the parts now, than it did before when it was using Stag parts. If my understanding is correct, the answer to your question is: “It depends.” It depends on when the particular rifle was made. An earlier-made rifle would be more Stag, and a later-made rifle would be more S&W.
I’m not entirely certain how to tell when a particular rifle was made. But regardless, I’d pick a Stag over a Bushmaster, and I’d pick a current S&W over a Stag.
Not trying to be a jerk, but I really do not think it matters.
For a little bit more money, you can buy a better rifle than either choice. I would check with Grant to see if his LMT sale is still going on.
I have had no trouble with my Bushmaster but IMO I think the SW (especially the T model) is the best bang for the buck
I agree. Try to go with the LMT route (have one). Much better quality than BM (I’ve had one) and much better on the chart than Stag.
I don’t have any experience with s&w but when I asked to see one at a local shop the guy told me he didn’t trust s&w autos enough to sell them. Thats the only bad thing I ever herd about them.
Exact same case here, 2 time BM customer, but if I had to do it over, BM would be behind the SW in this case. No more reason to buy BM with so many new options since the '04 ban lifted.
Guess you’re going to have to change your name to S&WFanBoy. ![]()
Recently seen S&Ws were looking good. Where there’s room for improvement, S&W is accepting feedback, and trying hard.
Bushmaster is…being Bushmaster.
Well put.
The S&W M&P 15A is a fantastic value IMHO as you get a LMT BCG and Troy rear sight for around $835. This is better than what Stag or BM puts out IMHO.
