I have standard Trijicon night sights on my Glock 19. I find that I have difficulty in quickly aligning the sights in low-light situations.
I’ve heard good things here about the figure 8 configuration and the Hackathorn configuration. I am referring to Ameriglo’s I-Dot and Hackathorn sights.
Which one of these sights would be better all around for standard light and low light situations? Is the Hackathorn sight significantly harder to align in low light due to the lack of tritium in the rear?
I really like the look of the Hackathorn sights, but I’m worried that I won’t be able to line up the all-black rear in low light situations. Also, another question comes to mind: has anyone tried the Hackathorn front with a single dot rear?
I tried searching but I couldn’t find anything that definitively answered my questions. Thanks.
I have been using Warren two dot (one front, one rear) sights for awhile now. I put the Hackathorn sights on my Gen 4 Glock 19 a few weeks ago. I find the Hackathorn sights to be noticeably better in low light. i can see the front better and the wider rear helps with that. I also get a faster sight picture. I don’t miss the rear dot at all or even notice there isn’t one.
I have a set on my Gen4 G19 and find that the front sight stands out remarkably well in all lighting conditions. The rear sight is like a wide open window allowing easy index of the front Tritium/orange face. GTG!
I have .140 orange square fronts with trit mated with .180 wide rears on my g35 and g21sf. I like very much.
I have a set of I dots ( .125 front/.180 rear) on my g19.
I like it so far.
I suspect the I dot configuration with the orange/trit front would be the best of all possible worlds. As such, I suspect I will be painting
my front I dot sight in the near future.
For my eyes, the orange really seems to draw my eye to the front sight more effectively than any combo to date.
Ameriglo has been a dream to deal with as thieir website shows inventory in real time and they ship in stock items promptly.
