I dont want to hear "more expensive"

You did well, young Jedi. You are so far ahead of those other folks, it’s scary. Just the fact that you absorbed the stickies proves this.

My first AR was a 6920, and that was proven to be a really wise decision. And welcome to M4C!

I don’t even bat an eye at the idea of spending $1000-$1400 on a rifle. (I’ve got other ‘not so cheap’ hobbies, too.) But for some reason, I’m having trouble justifying $1000 or more on a single optic.

I’ll still get one, I am just having trouble justifying it.

And on top of that, most guys building these “clones” build them for the hell of it, hardly ever shoot them, and have a $2500 gun sitting in the closet that serves no purpose.

I’m not against building clones, as long as whats on it works for you, but to build them with a knock-off AR yet actually pay the pretty pennies for the real gadgets is just rediculous.

Hey I loved my pre-board-reading DPMS. I even paid $950 for it!

Until I found out what it was and bought a KAC.

Haven’t been back since.

If you feel obligated to be armed for cheap then go for a Mosin. They’re not so bad…

However, if you wanna go for an AR with all it’s accuracy, durability, weight, and all… it’s okay to save the extra 200 or even 400 dollars since it’s worth is just that.

Good guns are more enjoyable at the range- and your neighbors can depend on you and your system to work right in a bad situation --God forbid.

Thanks.

No kidding, why the hell wouldnt you go for the colt? that is a really good price on the magpul 6920, do you know if thats the price at all sportsmans? If so then im going to make a stop and pick up a new colt tomorrow.

Grant sells the Colt 6920 for $930.

And I am more than willing to bet he will work with you if you want to swap a stock or pistol grip.

For the price of a half-dozen mags, and the ammo to fill them, you can get a solid carbine. Sweet Mother of Pearl, why wouldn’t you do that?

Well if you want to do an apples to apples comparison hes selling the same model for $1060.

So do I want to pay shipping and transfer fee or do I want to pay sales tax…? May have to think about this. Ill still go check one out tomorrow though.

Black Friday Sportsmans in St. George I paid 1199.00 plus tax. Came to 1275.

I understand the delimma that most newcomers face as I am a newcomer myself. I just purchased the exact Colt the OP mentioned last week. All my friends and family thought I was crazy since I could’ve bought a bushmaster with reddot for $599. After reading the knowledge base and stickies here, I thought the Colt was perfect for me and my needs.

Same with me. Before finding M4C, I was close to either getting a bushmaster or RRA and a big factor in my decision was the cost.

After educating myself here, I got my Daniel Defense m4v2 brand new for $1200. It came with a magpul adjustable buttstock, vertical grip, 7" quad rail and a 30 rd pmag. Now I laugh at the idea of me nearly getting a Bushmaster for $100-$200 cheaper but then adding the same things that came with the DD m4v2. It was an amazing deal because I purchased an excellent quality AR complete with the accessories I was going to get anyways.

Let me know if this AR meets your Mil-spec /Chart requirements! Then take a guess how much it costs!

I can understand that. The goal is not to have a weapon, it’s to have a piece of memorabilia. As long as it looks correct and functions well enough for the range that’s really all that matters for a rifle with that intended purpose.

I see it as falling under the same category as, say, a Luger or something. “I can’t see why anyone would buy a Luger for $800, an H&K P30 is only $200 more… it’s more reliable and magazines are easier to find.” Apples to oranges.

Now, when it comes to a defensive rifle… Yeah, there need to be some quality standards. The Plinker Plus may not be the best option…

How does that Norinco compare?

What kind of malfunctions are you getting?

Without knowing other dealers pricing, with the distributors my father works with, the difference between a 6920 and the Bushmaster Patrolman’s carbine that most closely resembles it, his cost difference is about $150+/-. Bushmaster does however produce several models that are a few hundred cheaper, however sticking to the closest representation of the Colt 6920 is the model with less than 200 bucks between them.

Retailers can mark them up however they want, but if we say and even grand (just a random round number) for both of them, they’ll make more on the Bushmaster.

He is all wrong. You should just get the best rifle manufactured, the mini14 and you can make your own better than any manufactured scope out of a glass soda bottle and duct tape. You will be accurate out to 10 miles in 50 mph winds I tell you.

Anything to make a buck:suicide:

Right.

We sell the 6920MP for $1060 and the 6920 for $930. Hard to beat for the money.

I bet twice a week people ask me, “If you see a good deal on an AR, give me a call.”
For the past 2-months, I give these guys the link to G&R, tell them the Colt is the best deal going, and briefly explain to them how to mail order a gun.
I then tell them if they don’t move on that deal, don’t ask me to “look” anymore because they are not serious.

But maybe it’s just me…

Someone can save money on such things as entertainment, food or clothing but when it comes to protecting your life or your family’s lives I just don’t see compromising.

I visit a few gun forums and am constantly amazed at the number of posters satisfied with a “deal” on a firearm with a proven history of unreliability.
