What about the physical tearing of your ear parts from the 170 dB? If not you, what about other family members?
I’ve read about cases where it is the opposite of exclusion and you hear everything. I could care less about my hearing, I’ll take life over hearing. Having said that I have no experience with a 300blk suppressed. If I had the resources I would probably suppress a HD gun for the reasons you guys said.

Robert has pointed out some good facts about shooting suppressed. It is all I shoot anymore. All I can say is to go to a silencer shoot and try one.

Personally I’ve avoided 6.5 and 6.8 because i can’t get the brass readily… 300aac is cool in that it can be formed from 5.56 brass… makes it a much more practical choice for anyone who reloads.
OK- I really want this to be a HD setup- which is why I’m so picky over noise. Are there any fragmenting/expanding bullets in development for 300 blk that is designed for subsonic speeds? If I have to go supersonic with 300BLK, I might as well just get another 5.56 SBR and suppress it.
Has anyone done a sound analysis on firing a suppressed 5.56 SBR in close quarters? I know it’s ~140dB outside, so I’d imagine it’d be a couple dB higher for indoors.
Indoors does not register as louder because the peak sound level does not change. It does appear louder because of the longer duration at a high level. This is actually a good example of why the MIL STD sound testing procedure is not so good - it shows the peak but not the energy under the curve.
I see, I would think that the sound reflection from the walls would increase sound pressure and therefore result in a higher dB, as well as increased energy.
That is not possible to be picked up on the sound meter because the peak is over before the reflection can add to it. The wall would have to be within a few inches.
Though you are actually right if you just mean “gets louder” rather than “meters louder.”
Maybe I’ll just get a 5.56 suppressed then. There seems to be no point in 300blk supersonic, especially for HD. I don’t see it being a very effective round subsonic.

This a complaint I have have with several of the suppliers, they don’t like the policies of Cal DOJ, so they further punish gun owners there by not selling to them. even tho it is not illegal to sell the parts or ammo to residents of Cal. If I were in business I would welcome the money that Californians want to spend, it appears that anyone who won’t sell to me and other peasants in the RPK have so much business from the other 49 states they don’t want my money.
Call Summit directly and see if they will sell to you. The co selling on gunbroker is a 3rd party. Not sure what min size would be direct but perhaps could find some people to split up whatever a min order would be.
