Often times on the errornet, we see people say that the reason they bought a BM/RRA/Oly/DPMS was because that is all their local gun shops have in stock. They would love to buy a LMT, Colt, Sabre Defence, Stag Arms, Noveske, etc, but no one ever has these brands to look at.

Reading these complaints and trying to please the consumer, what do I do? I go out and stock these brands and put them on the shelf. I do not stock the typical AR’s that you find everywhere.

How am I rewarded for this? Customers come in looking for AR’s and after I tell them what I have in stock, they ask me if I stock Oly/BM/RRA/DPMS. :rolleyes:

I can’t win for losing I guess. So I think I am going to stop stocking quality AR’s and gear and go straight for the items that seem so popular on the net. No more LT, DD, Troy, BFG for me! Am going straight tacpoints and airsoft knock off’s!!!

You should have a huge blow-out sale of those LMTs and offer M4C members first dibbs.

BTW my DPMS has been flawless for 100 rounds and the fit and finish is perfect!

We display our long guns horizontally which I think helps to point to the differences w/o having to pull each one off of the wall.

We also mount optics, stock and lights to show how they look on a rifle and how they’re used.

I sometimes get this:

Customer : I only go shooting occasionally, do you have any cheaper ARs?
Me : Do you want an occasionally reliable AR?

Some don’t like the no BS approach…can’t please everyone. :smiley:

I have AR’s on the counters all done up with different gadgets mounted on them. This is a good way to show the consumer what they can do.

On a side note, are those printer cartridges in the last picture? Do they come in OD & FDE or just black?

Printer cartridges. Good one (dork). :smiley: They are Lumens Factory bulbs for SF lights.

The only local gun dealer that has many ARs recently starting carrying Sabre Defense, which surprised the hell out of me as they are mostly a BM and DPMS dealer. I asked to look at one (since I’d never seen an SD carbine before and have heard so many nice things about them) and while I’m checking it out the guy behind the counter says to me, “Those are pretty nice rifles, but I really prefer these DPMS. They’re fully mil-spec and have a really nice finish on them.” I just need to stop even going into that place…

Keep fighting the good fight, Grant. We appreciate your efforts. On a side note, I have got to make a road trip up there to your store. It looks awesome!

Why not put up one rack of BM/OLY/etc with a big sign that says “Poser/Plinker” and another rack of LMT etc with a sign that says “Quality/Authentic High Speed Ricky”. That should clear everything up and make things runs smooth;) .

Good idea! I am sure that wouldn’t piss anyone off. I have already made the mistake of telling a customer the reason why we don’t stock certain brands. I later found out that he owned three of one of the brands I said I didn’t like.

We do have a nice core group of AR fans, but for the most part, the locals don’t have much interest in us.

I know a nice place over the bridge in Philly that has a wonderful back room. Had the tour once or twice, a real privilege. :cool:

Amazing how a thirty round magazine can be bought several places downtown, but not in this now forsaken “Garden State” (N.J.). A real joke.
