Instead of trying to classify people by race based upon skin pigment (black, white, yellow, etc.) or race based upon global origin (Asian, African, European, etc.) we will just have TWO racial categories.
Darker and Lighter.
As with the current racial qualifiers they are completely arbitrary, based upon nothing more then human perception and will always contain genetic exceptions.
And just like the current racial classifications people who should be in one identifiable racial group will actually have more genetic commonality with another identifiable racial group.
So no more confusion when the blond haired white girl has genetic traits that make her more racially “black” than some NAACP members, no more embarrassing discoveries when some black kid discovers he has more Asian than African genetic traits and we finally get to figure out which group people with mixed heritages are supposed to be in.
Just stand next to somebody. Are you darker or lighter? Now wasn’t that easy?
And sure in the summer some people might become a different race temporarily, and sure it will sound completely stupid to award scholarships and hiring preferences based upon such idiotic and arbitrary criteria…especially those that are subject to fluctuation.
But maybe if we did this everyone who thinks they are black or white (btw, most aren’t…they are actually some shade of pink or brown) will figure out how idiotic classifying by race is in the first place.
And as a bonus, if we do this correctly we should have a pretty cool pink to brown (ROYGBIV) rainbow every time we line up a group by race. And won’t it be funny when the time comes that the two individuals at the opposite ends of the line have more genetic commonality with each other than the rest of the group.
I have a dream…that one day we can end this stupidity once and for all.

If that were law, I could totally play the system. I tan super easily, my Dad and Uncle are super dark, but I’ve gotten lighter since living in Oklahoma and staying indoors all the time.
I have a much better solution to this issue of race and know an absolute way to unite all of man kind.

This is why we need to conquer the stars and expand our species so that we can find other species and instead of humanity being racists against each other we can all become xenophobic and speciesist/human supremacism/humanocentrism. The idea that humans, as both beings and a species, are the superior sentients. Essentially the equivalent of race supremacy on a galactic scale, it entails intolerant discrimination against sentient non-humans.
No matter what mankind is tribal and violent amongst itself nd if we don’t focus and direct that anger towards and exterior source then we will surely collaspe and destroy ourselves.

People are extremely tribal, as you say. We always find ways to group up and make it “us vs them” whether it be nationalism, sports teams, branches of the armed service, states, political parties, religions, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, pistol caliber choice, annual salary, choice of Internet forum, etc.
The only way to get all of humanity into one group is to find a “them” that isn’t also in humanity. Which means aliens.
This stuff just cracks me up when people get their panties all twisted over race. If you’re black you’re black, if you’re white you’re white, if you’re Asian you’re Asian, etc…
There is a white guy at work who caused a big hoopla when he put himself down as African American, which being a South African immigrant he is. He got in a big argument saying that he was more African American than the black guys complaining about it. It was funny.
My whole theory is racism will go away after we stop making a big deal out of it. I didn’t know about racism until I learned it in school
Funny, this post reminded me of when I first married my Yankee wife and we went to visit my family in SC. She saw a bumper sticker that said “I Hunt Black and Tans” and she railed on me about how awful and racist it was. My wife was sure that meants blacks and Mexicans. She was a little embarrassed when I explained that the black and tan it was referring to was a coon dog.
So how does it work when people who are lighter hate people who are darker? Many years ago I was on the subway I’m the only white guy mind you, everyone else was black. They looked at me funny but didn’t say anything. Then at one of the stops A black guy, really dark skin came on and I heard all of the black people call this guy, a Black mother effer and a effing n$&@*r! I was shocked and felt sorry for this dude so I’m not sure how classification of lighter/ darker will improve race relations when people of the same “race” already hate each other.
You say A. is white, and B. is black. It is color, then; the lighter, having the right to enslave the darker? Take care. By this rule, you are to be slave to the first man you meet, with a fairer skin than your own.
