I am pi$$ed off and don't know what to do about it

I am on record, as saying none of us should buy Holosun due to the whole made in China thing.

Yesterday I was shooting with a guy and he has a Holosun 507 on his Glock. I shot it, my RMR pales next to the 507. 507 glass is a lot crisper, I love the green dot. I love the dot in the big circle and think it is a great tool for teaching new dot shooters.

Last night I watched Aaron at Sage Dynamics beat Holosuns and they kept going.

Why couldn’t the factory be in Viet Nam and not China?

But I am going to have to admit here and now, the sight is just so great, that it is no longer going to be the hill on which I will fight my lonely private battle against the Chinese. I was in shock at how much better it was than my RMR.

“Welcome to the party pal!”

You forgot to mention that it’s 25-30% less than the Trijicon too…They are innovating as well. Take the Vulcan reticle for instance, it’s a perfect tool for transitioning from irons to a dot.

Would be glad to buy American, or even socialist Swedish over Chinese, but the features and quality keep pulling me back in. I have 5 of the higher end Holosuns between pistols and rifles, and will likely be picking up one of their new AEMS sights for a newly acquired 11.5" AR.

As a rule, I avoid Chinese products in favor of American as much as possible, even when it requires paying substantially more. However, when it comes to life saving equipment such as firearms and their accessories, I will always buy what gives me the greatest advantage.

Vortex Sparc Solar is along the same lines IMO. Made in China but brings some impressive features to the table at a solid price.

I have to say the green was great to shoot with my eye picked it up very fast also with my RMR red dot I see a little spike protein type thing stick out at 1 o clock. With the green I didn’t have that issue

After a competition class (I was using my rmr) I got to shoot another students shadow systems with red 507. Circle dot. I liked neither his gun nor the sight. Reticle seemed fuzzy. I wasn’t ready for the circle dot lol. Gun had a hiccup in the first few rounds.
Could be I’m just learning the dot over the past couple months and don’t know what no don’t know but I’m didn’t dig it and I was glad because I hate the China thing.

I just picked up a 407 recently and even with my slight astigmatism, no glasses, it;s the cleanest dot of any red dot I own. Even cleaner with my glasses on. I wondered whether it being 6.5 MOA had an effect compared to my 3.5 MOA RMR or other 2 MOA dots?

I feel the same way about Holosun as you but relented in the end.

Buying Holosun pales in comparison to what everyone else buys from China on a daily basis. The only thing you hurt by boycotting Holosun is you.

Especially when you realize everyone replying to this thread is undoubtedly doing it with something that contains something from China.

Typing on a MAC, made in red chyna. Almost, or impossible not to purchase any item not made by chicom based factories. Some exceptions, granted, but I’d venture to guess that 8-9 out of 10 random daily used products are manufactured there. This is why the U.S. is impotent in any dealings with them. Can industries relocate their factories to ? Thailand, Viet Nam, Ecuador, Italy, Bulgaria? Maybe, but a most painful economic cost that no one will tolerate. In essence, red chyna won the clandestine war they declared on the US and and the world, the first being economic, the second, biological. Unfortunately they basically rule the west to a great extent.

I have been eying the 507 for a while. I like the look of the reticle, green dot…hate the made in China but unfortunately that I s such a hard hill to die on. Our lives would be nearly empty if we removed all the made in china crap.

IF this helps…Ive heard MrGuns&Gear say Mr. Holosun has dual Chinese/American citizenship, and was at one time anyway, going to start making them here, iirc. As he is a private citizen/business, it supposedly doesnt benefit the Chinese mlitary…I dont know 100% tho.
What about Crimson Trace, Steiner, and/or other USA/nor China made made ones?

Everything built in China benefits the commies and their military to say other wise is just stupid.

I have nothing against products made in other countries excluding China. If Holosun were made in Viet Nam, I would have no problem or the Dominican Republic.

I agree with you @yoni. I’m making a much more conscientious effort to avoid Chinese products, with the exception of anything that is life savings or might give me an advantage in a gun fight. One reason I don’t own, nor allow any Apple products in my house. Holosun is really the only place where I willingly compromise.

Obviously there are a whole bunch of products that use parts or materials sourced from China, without which modern urban life would be seriously compromised, such as rare earth metals for example. But as far as products “Made in China,” I avoid them almost entirely. With the exception of Holosun.

Its a tuff pill to swallow but some Chinese shit is GTG. Holosun is a great example.

What I don’t get is why don’t the US and others countries straight up rip off China like China did to them and apply improvements to their product line?

Then you’re home must be fairly empty, easily 90-95% of household items are chicom. No apple products ? Ok. What laptop are using ? Lenovo ?Dell ?Samsung Made in China. Most of your clothing ? Made in china. With the exception of Italian modern or Scandesign, most furniture made in china. Any recent prescription meds? Either china or India for generics. You may think you’re avoiding Chinese products, but you’re not.

You’re probably right that there’s a lot more Chinese crap in my house than I’m aware of. But my pc is built from parts, some of which I know are made in China, and many parts not. Furniture is made in North Carolina or handmade here in Georgia. Etc, etc.

Like I said, I really do try to avoid Chinese manufacturered or sourced products whenever possible. With the exception of Holosun.

I’m in a similar boat. Finally decided to get an optic for my Sig M17, and was planning on going with Trijicon because I’ve used many Trijicon products over the years and love the company. Picked up a Shadow Systems pistol with a Holosun 507c on it, and was blown away by how much better the optic looked. I loved the circle/dot reticle, it’s been my favorite reticle since I first picked up an EOTech. Decided to look into them more, since I had long ignored the brand in favor of other options, and discovered that they make the same reticle in green. Oh boy, I think I’m going to be getting a Holosun for my Sig. Damn shame, because while I don’t mind paying more for an American (or allied nation) made product, I don’t care for paying more for an arguably inferior product unless there are some solid points in its favor. At this point, the HE597c is beating the pants off the RMR.

Because the end result would be a product that most likely costs more than the product that it’s trying to imitate. That’s a big financial gamble that has no guarantee of success.
