i am in a toss up to build a 9mm ar or get a aimpoint

for the 9mm ar i have everything but the mags and was able to buid it for 605 and now i dont know if i want the 9mm or to get a aim point.

the 9mm is a ameetec upper, and bolt with a spikes tactical lower and rra parts kit. or i can sell it to buy a optic for my other ar15.

Do you currently have an RDS equipped AR? If the answer is no, get the Aimpoint.

this is what it looks like at the moment. i also have a surefire light for it and a kac VFG

here is what the 9mm will look like

I would stick with what You got. .223 be pricey. Optics be damned, irons are fun!

So you have one AR in 5.56, built another one in 9mm for a little over $600-smackers and you want to know if you should dump it for an Aimpoint? It only took me one millisecond to think of an answer…

You need to have an optic on a carbine with flip up sights or people will make fun of you.

A 9mm is good, though, if you shoot at indoor ranges that don’t allow rifle fire.

It’s been said that two guns are one and one gun is none, hence the need for a backup. Right now you have a serviceable carbine with a BUIS. I would keep your second 9mm AR since the 9mm is cheaper to shoot, makes a good trainer due to the lighter muzzle blast and cheaper ammo, and as mentioned earlier, some ranges will allow you to shoot 9mm but not 5.56mm. If you want an aimpoint but can’t afford it right now, just do like I did when I built my son’s rifle, just take $50 out of each paycheck and in no time you’ll have enough money saved up to buy the aimpoint outright as well as keeping your 9mm AR.

I take it the answer is no. John doesn’t read minds…

ETA: Who the f#$k voted for aimpoint?

basically i was asking if my 9mm seemed good enough to be worth keeping and you guys seem to think so?

Wasn’t me and John need not read minds - my answer was in the form of a question - of course he should keep the 9mm - rule of 2 …

i dont know but almost twice as many as for the 9mm

Most people end up regreating getting rid of a firearm. I’d keep both AR’s and pick up an inexpensive sight untill I can get an Aimpoint.

CDNN has some C-more sights for $199.99

In my opinion 9mm should only be shot out of a pistol or subgun.

Not some bastardized AR platform.

Yeah but i have a small pistol problem.

and 9mm is a hell of a lot cheaper then .223. I bought 300 9mm (rifle) rounds fo my ar from walmart for 45 bucks

well the 9mm is finished here is a picture of the twins. I hope to get out to the range this weekend.

What about a bastardized AR-platform subgun?

I agree. I’ve kicked around the notion of building one of these trinketts several times over the years. Everytime I get into the details, I back away. It’s just not right.
