I didn’t see a new member introduction forum, so I am posting here. Some of you will recognize me as Flanged Barrel Fanatic on the 1911Forum. Members there recommended this forum, so here I am, and glad to be here. I’m pretty much a Wilson guy, but admire all 1911s.
When I was trying to sell a Wilson, one of the 1911Forum guys recommended this site due to ability to sell and general good stuff. Let’s say I am expanding my horizons.
Well, when I first jumped into Wilsons I bought two without really knowing all the features, finishes etc. Actually, my first was the X-TAC Compact, which was the less expensive of the lot. I wanted to “test the waters” to confirm they were all they are cracked up to be. It was “love at first shoot.” I then bought another. By then I had done my homework and honed in on what I really liked. The bottom line is I have bought 8 and sold 3. My current collection pretty much spans all the calibers and finishes. However, just today I placed an order for a Supergrade Pro. I’ll pay for it on a monthly basis while I wait probably two years or more for delivery.
I have not shot either a Baer, STI or Brown, so I cannot compare. I’m an “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” kinda guy, so I’m sticking with Wilsons.
Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to learning some great info on this site.
Well you’re not missing anything. Baers are kinda rough compared to a Wilson and I don’t understand the fascination with STIs. They’re ugly as sin and just slapped together mid-line production guns.
I’m another 1911 forum “refugee”. Posted over there for over a decade as JiminCA - still go from time to time. You will find M4C refreshing as the clown bus hasn’t shown up here. 1911 forum used to be this way, but over the years it grew and the broader base just isn’t as knowledgeable.
Came here when I got interested in AR’s and advice/info really helped me cut to the chase in my selections, avoiding the “try one of everything” journey I had with 1911’s.
There was a reason AC was a mod both here and there. Great places.
