Anybody have any clues how I would stake the front sight drum?
I’ve never seen it done, doesn’t mean it hasn’t been though.
Most sight drums are actually “too” tight…
Not mine. I have one of those XS Big Dot sights and it can be moved with a firm thumb.
I wonder if loc tite might do?
Any chance XS has run into this before or could swap out the drum for a larger one?

I had the same problem, and was thinking about removing the sight drum, then making a few peening marks on the drum - that should leave a little extra material sticking up on the end of the ‘detents’.
Of course, you’d have to match these ‘marks’ up with the inside of the sight post where it would make contact. Maybe one on the bottom, and one towards the rear.
Hope that makes sense.
Here’s a question. How do you loosen the front sight drum for windage? I bought an AK sight tool and tried applying it, but it ended up pressing into the front sight structure and leaving an impression in the metal. Is there anything (lubricant) that can be applied to pre-loosen it? or Does it just take a lot of force?
Put a few drops of a good penetrating oil on the front sight post, let it flow down into the front sight and sit for a day or two.
Then, use force.
Crank sight tool tight. Then whang front sight post with a wrench wrapped in cloth straight down towards the receiver, inline with the bore…In otherwords from the dangerous end back towards you… Not Monkey-hard, just a firm tap. The vibrations make the pressure slide the post.
Repeat as needed. If you went too far, press from the opposite side.
Thanks Templar & Storydude, sounds good, I appreciate it.
