That CS is beyond words! As stated above, if I ever meet them, drinks are on me!
Their stellar customer service is why I buy nearly everything from BCM.
Too bad you sent the FUBAR’d rail back. I would have liked to see the old “run it over with a truck test” and see how it fares.
BCM is really the industry leader in terms of service, innovation and quality control.
I’ve had quite a few rails now… One thing leads to another… And somehow I have KMRs on every AR15 platform rifle I have. Like others have said I have an outstanding level of respect for BCM as a company and the KMR really is the best rail I have ever touched for my uses at least.
Now that’s what I call customer service. Well above and beyond the usual. Way to go BCM!
This story just added yet another reason why I love all things BCM. Thanks for sharing!
wow…that’s awesome that theyre helping you like that
Well… i been lookin for a reason to get me a 14.5 elw upper with keymod… and now you’ve given me my reason to build another bcm rifle…
Wow, I’ll have to remember that about BCM. That’s pretty amazing.
While reading this I realized that I have never experienced BCM CS and was unaware whether they were as good as their products.
I’ve always assumed because their products are so on point they didn’t even have CS staff!
I’ve broken one of BCMs GF charging handles and I can echo their CS is fantastic. Not bashing their product as crap happens but saying that to praise their CS. Received a new CH in 8 days after putting mine in the mail.

The only thing I know they don’t like to do is cancel an order that has already been processed ![]()
…but they will let you return it ![]()
Ive never owned nor handled a kmr but i dont think ill ever be able to get past the mag-alloy blend. It just doesnt leave me with peace of mind.
No doubt it’s not as robust as a conventional Picatinny rail. But it serves it’s purpose as a lightweight handguard, but after a point, lightweight becomes light duty, and I think BCM has gotten there.
A while back I said this was a problem that had been kept on the down-low within industry circles, which is why I declined to post pix (most pictures are in the hands of industry guys who kept things quiet for one reason or another). Seems it’s coming to light in general public now. OP, you’re not the only one. Glad BCM is taking care of these customers! That said, if Tapco had made a rail that the finish cracking off of was normal and from time to time suffered true failures like this and was immediately replaced, this thread would not be “I LOVE TAPCO!”, it would be “Who cares if they replaced it? They break. They suck. Get a new idea.”
Just my .02 on it. Never did like Keymod or paper-thin tiny bearing surfaces made of low-strength materials.
You did see where OP said he put something on backwards, right? This was not something that happened from normal use.
I’m going to go ahead and disagree with you on BCM’s products, however I can understand the mindset.
I’ve seen broken kmrs without that caveat. They are a nice, ergonomic and lightweight range item. Nothing wrong with that, but it’s just not appealing to some.
I didn’t want to be the one to come out and say it, but I agree.
