Well if you think that is our “main” problem, you are severely sheltered. Though having said that, I do think that you have a point. I find more people that agree with me on most issues and philosophies, but because they believe that they fit in some category they vote and support without thought. Like one of my sig lines says " when you are talking to the average person you are talking to a TV set" it tells them what to wear, eat, and who to vote for.
No I’m far from “sheltered”, the last 30 years of U.S. politics have created a black and white approach to all of the issues we face as a nation. The result has been catastrophic and has ultimately led to all of the issues that we are seeing today. If you would like me to write you a fifteen page single spaced paper with citations on this I could do that. But, I would rather ask you to think about it in an abstract way. If you and I are the voting populace, and we allowed ourselves to be so convinced that because you are A and I am B that this means you think A and I think B, then ultimately I system that is neither A nor B is then capable of doing whatever they want as long as they appear to us (the voters) to be doing A or B.
We allowed ourselves to be convinced that the Dems and the Reps were different. They convinced us of this by using immediate results (within a 4 to 8 year term) to convince us that they were somehow different by legislating minimal changes that fit within their proscribed “party”. All the while they were completely re-writing the global realities of trade, commerce, and the exchange of goods and services in such a way that in the 21st Century the concept of a nation has become antiquated.
The biggest problem America faces today is that we are so obsessed with Left vs. Right that we can’t even focus on the real issues this nation is faced with.
Please write this manifesto. I think we all deserve to know just what kind of crazy we are dealing with here.

While your points are valid, I still maintain that you are wrong about it being the worst problem. From my point of view ignorance is the worst problem. Ignorance being a lack of knowledge. Ignorance of our past , and what goes on presently is the root of many of our issues, including the point you are trying to make. If the average American knew and understood what was going on it would be far more difficult to misdirect. Now this would not fix everything, people would still have differing opinions but then at least we would be able to go forward knowing the facts, instead of being fed what someone else wants us to think.
Now to go back on the track. The only way to effectively deal with pirating has not changed in more than 300 years. You hunt them down. Western Europe and the US may have forgotten but at least the Russians have not. Well I guess that is not entirely correct, we just are not doing it to the scale that is required to correct the problem.
