The Winchester was a Christmas present from my Dad. My first firearm.
The 336 C is my only scoped lever action and will put 3 rounds inside an inch and a half all day long at 100 yards.
The .45-70 is a thumper, of course, and makes me smile every time I pick it up.

There was a Browning M95 in 30.06 with a receiver sight in a local gun shop years ago. I decided $600 was too high for a used gun and have been regretting it since.

I keep coming close on a 45-70. Either one of those spruced up guide guns with synthetic stock SS… or the 20 inch with laminate stock.
CDNN has the guide set up. Demo units I think for a good deal. I sat one in the basket a couple times but never pulled the trigger.

Ended up with a Marlin 336 in 30-30 I got from a friend. Made a couple of additions.
And picked up some dies and components.
Loaded 150gr Berry’s RNFP with 8.5gr of Trailboss for about 1150fps. Minimal recoil and load of fun to shoot.

I haven’t pulled either out of the safe in a couple years, except for annual cleaning.
Over the years, had a couple marlin 336s in 30-30, had a marlin guide gun 45-70 when they first came out.
Had a rossi in 45 colt.
Had a winchester 1876 in 40-60.
Currently have a winchester 1873 in 45 colt I custom built on an original frame.
Not a rifle, but currently have a winchester 1887 in 10ga, made about 1893-1894.
Been thinking about one of the marlin 1895 cowboy rifles in 45-70.

Yes, yes it is. And, since that 1800s shotgun is BP only, the big boom that goes with 95gr of powder under 1 3/8oz of shot never fails to get attention.
I enjoy my Marlin 336s very much. You have to love the easy optics mounting and they handle and balance nicely without optics.
I am not sure if I could explain why, but I really enjoy reloading the 30-30. There is a wide range of compatible powders and projectiles to choose from and tons of load data available. The 170 gr bullets seem to shoot the best in my one scoped 30-30, for what its worth.
I noticed that there was a ton of data for reloading including reduced loads for pistol powders. How do you do with brass life?
I haven’t been shooting the 30-30s much lately, so I just don’t remember having an issue losing cases. People must like me, they are always leaving once fired cases at the range for me to take home.
If you neck size and shoot mild loads, the brass should last quite a while, though. Full length resizing is hard on the brass because of the generous chamber dimensions, but required IME if you have multiple 30-30s.
I have a Lee loader and a H&R single shot in 30-30 that are a great combination for long case life because you can neither shoot or reload very quickly and the tool neck sizes only.
I have only loaded pistol powders in .45-70, the 30-30 should be a pussycat with reduced loads.
