My AK 47 variant was manufactured without the side scope mount on the receiver, how hard is it to have it converted to add that mount? Is it possible? Is this something a monkey with ten thumbs could install themselves?
As always, thank you.

Two types of scope mounts out there. One screws on and the second is riveted.
Obviously, the screw on mount is easier to retrofit. It’s solid and looks factory, not bubba. You have to be able to drill holes in a straight line to use it.
The rivet on rail requires you to drill holes and set rivets.

So in other words I need to find an AK smith in my next of the woods (San Antonio) and pay them to do it. Thanks for the info.
Its decently easy to do for a good AK smith.
Shouldn’t cost much more than an hours work.
I have personal experience with InRange and like Troys work, but there are plenty of good smiths around.
I’d definitely suggest doing it the right way by having the rail riveted on. Here’s a couple of videos about what’s involved.

Adding a rail to an already completely assembled rifle isn’t quite as easy, but anyone who can rivet an AK together should be able to do it. If you don’t have a friend who can help you, send it off to a good AK gunsmith. Notice that I didn’t say just gunsmith. There are plenty of good gunsmiths out there who don’t have a clue about how to work on an AK. Troy at Inrange is good, but there are others.
Make sure that you get the correct type of rail. The two most common types are AKM and AK74 rails. Before you start, you want to make sure your mount will work with both your rail and your scope.
Is this an alternative that will not bubba f*ck or lower the value of my AK variant?http://www.collectorssourcedfw.com/mpk-2.html
Disregard. After looking at my AK variant, there aren’t any rivet holes so they would have to be drilled. I’m off to find an AK smith in the San Antonio/Austin area.
With no rivets this means you have a milled reciever, and I would highly recommend a good AK Specific gunsmith.
Is it an underfolder? I dont think side scope mount will work with an underfolder
No, it isn’t.
