How does High Speed Tactical Gear compare to Eagle Industries?

I want mag pouches that will work with 30 round M4, 30 round ak, and 20 round M1a mags. How does High Speed tactical gear compare to others? What are the pros and cons of single vs double pouches?
Are modular pouches harder to work with? Are the closures better on the HSTG than velcro?

Universal Modular Magazine Pouch (DOUBLE) Details

The HSGI Universal Modular Magazine Double Pouch connects to any MOLLE/PALS platform by use of MALICE clips. The magazine pouch was designed for multiple magazine types. Each pouch can hold up to; either 3 M/16, 2 AK, or 2 .308 magazines. It can hold 2 M/16 magazines that use of a coupler also. The staggered design also allows a 20 round m/16 magazine to set up high enough within the internal stirrup to use along side with 30 rounders or to allow the user to identify certain magazines with unique purposes. Also with the internal stirrup, a M/18 smoke can be placed within. While using 2 of any rifle mags, the flap can be placed out of the way within the pouch for quick draw. The pouch also has an adjustable shock-cord along the front and sides of the pouch to squeeze the mags snug. Tension is set via cord-locks to retain magazines. MOLLE/PALS webbing is located on the sides of the pouch for the addition of modular pouches like a Pistol or Frag pouch.

Im leaning towards that tactical taylor since the HSTG is not coyote tan and the TT looks more weather resistant. Who makes the best single speed release mag pouch for a 30 round AR mag similar to what the Marines use? Is it possible to get a single speed loading pouch for an ak/ar universal holder?

I’ve got several of the UMMP mag pouches from HSGI. I really like them as I have fit 2 AR, 2 AK, and one G3 mag in a pouch simply by adjusting the shock cord to size. They are very secure, even when I have tucked the flaps back and run them as an open top pouch. They are also bombproof!! Gene makes some extremely tough gear, you definitely will not be wearing them out! I have used the TT and Eagle offerings, as well as the Rallyman pouches from SOE. While they are all nice, I prefer the way the HSGI pouches positions the mags for me (AR & AK mags).

The rig I am currently using these on is a TT MAV 2-piece. One of the pouches doubles as a pistol holster with the addition of a blade-tech iwb holster tied in.

Bottom line, I doubt you will be disappointed with the HSGI products, and if you don’t care for the flaps, Gene makes the same pouches open top with additional bungee tabs. In addition to that, Gene is a great small time business man that will sit on the phone with you for hours talking gear. He really cares about what the end users want and ow to make it happen.

HSGI has a more handmade feel - in a good way. Definitely on par with Eagle, Paraclete, TacticalTailor. The Taco mag pouches are fantastic, and the most flexible out there- my only complaint is that I don’t like MALIC attachment.
If you’re only going to be using 5.56 magazines, Maxpedition’s shingles might be a viable cheaper option.
I’ve had no complaints with my HSGI stuff, wouldn’t hesitate to buy more.
