How do you aim through a 1:00 offset RDS from your weak side?

I’m considering getting an ACOG and mounting an RMR offset at 1:00. Thinking it through, however, I don’t understand how one would shoot weak side with the RDS. Can anyone using this setup enlighten me?

I don’t use offsets for this reason but hazarding a guess you close your dominant eye and make due with a shitty cheek weld.

My answer: Visible laser.

Yep…biggest issue with this setup. While popular in competitve environments, hardly the best solution for SHTF situations. One needs to define the primary use for a particular weapon and employ the appropropriate sight setup for that use. Some would say the latest generation of scopes providing 1x magnification are the solution for multiple roles. Others say RDS with magnifiers. Others prefer ACOG’s with a top mounted RDS.

Find what works best for you.

There are gents out there that, if transitioning to their off shoulder, simply will not swap hand positions. Right hand stays on the FCG, left hand no the forearm of the gun, your cheek/chin rests maybe on the stock and a good bit on your firing hand. Pretty much automatically sets up a cant on the rifle so that an offset optic falls in their FOV.

That’s not a recommendation, just saying that I’ve seen folks do that and make it work. If one were to try that using an optic that doesn’t need a cant to get it to fall in front of the eye, the hand position on the FCG is pretty wonky; it’s a weird angle.
