How do I know if I'm getting a real DD BCG?

I’m looking at a few Daniel Defense BCG’s and I’m curious other than trusting the people I may deal with, how will I know it’s DD? I mean I’m sure the bolt will be stamped HPT/MPT but there are no markings on the carriers of any of the BCG’s that I’ve seen.

Buy from a Distributor with a long history of selling DD products and one that would does not sell fake chit.

I can’t answer your question except to say that the DD bolt carrier group I just got from BCM was marked with the DD etching on the carrier but the bolt was not marked with either HPT or MPT. Based on the online research that I did after I saw my new DD BCG that seems to be the case sometimes.

It came from Bravo and was shipped in a DD tube so I’m sure it’s what it’s supposed to be. Frankly I’d prefer that the bolt be marked so that on the off chance I ever have to sell it I won’t have to answer the same questions myself.

You might consider just buying a BCM BCG from Grant. He has them in stock (as of now) and I KNOW that bolt is marked

Beside the laser etched DD on the ejection port side of the carrier, the bolts are sometime marked, sometimes not. I have two DD BCGs from dealers, one is HPT/MPI marked, the other is not.

BCM BCG’s in stock? Probably sold out as you posted that! I’ve considered BCM as well, might even just get another spikes tactical for $109-$114 even if some dont like the fact that the company isn’t run by “operators” they do a good job of keeping up. I wanted a DD for something different and because the availability seemed to be there over BCM. I didn’t know they etched their logo into the carrier, it was never visible in any current pics I’ve seen on various distributor sites

We also have BCM BCG’s in stock. So they are available as well.

The issue that many have/had with Spike’s isn’t their lack of being an “operator” (WTF that is?) but rather how they were marketing their stuff and their lack of response when certain questions were raised. Enough of the Spike’s stuff let’s keep this focused on your original question about DD.

  1. Buy from a site sponsor, or another clearly legit company (to my knowledge AIM and MidwayUSA are not sponsors, but both are legit in my experience).

  2. Real DD carriers, of which I have several, have an unusually dark black phosphate coating that feels like a sort of crust compared to smoother phosphate coatings on all other brands of carriers I’ve seen. Once you see one it’s pretty distinctive.

  3. In my experience real DD carriers come in a cardboard tube with a DD label, and are not in a plastic bag.

  4. I don’t think there is much if any functional or quality difference between the DD and BCM carriers, so if one is in stock and the other isn’t, I’d just get the one that’s in stock.

Thanks guys!
