how do i go about breaking in a new m4?

I’m about to purchase a stage model 1L, is there a break in procedre I should go through? And does anyone have any information on paq 4 infared lasers? Are they legal to own to the public?

No and No.

Shoot the rifle and then shoot it some more.

  • Disassemble
  • Clean
  • Inspect
  • Lube
  • Reassemble
  • Function Check
  • Shoot

Yes, IR lasers are legal. But, the problem is getting them from the source. For example. A police officer purchases one on letterhead, uses it and then sells it to Joe Public. Not a problem. But the manufacturers cannot sell them to Joe Public directly.

Ah, I was not aware of that. Learn something new every day.

Just aquired a paq-4 recently and didn’t know the law aspect of it. On the companies website it says federal agencies only that’s why I asked here. And to be honest I’m not sure I’m going to ever use it. And I was told to break in an m4 buy sooting 5 rounds, run a patch down the barrel and reapeat about 3 to 4 times. Which doesn’t make to much sense to me. Thank you all for your insight. If anyone is intrested in the paq-4 email me mxriderkev@yahoo.com

Do you have NVGs to see the laser? I’m trying to see the practical side of having it…

I only have hand held nigh vision. For myself it was a spure of the moment purchase, I really don’t have practical use for them. But it is pretty cool though

Well, the paq-4 is sold. We will find out in a few days

No particular break-in procedure. And no the Peq-4 infrared lasers are not legal to own.

Thats more for precision rifles, although some shooters would debate the usefulness of that tedious method for even precision weapons. As others have said the AR doesn’t require any special break in other than clean, lube and shoot.

I’d go with this.
Did your new weapon come with a manual? If so read it cover to cover first.

IR lasers are legal to own. Its against FDA regulations to buy one from a dealer or manufacturer unless you are LE or MIL.

The only way for average civilian to get one is 2nd hand from an LEO or mil member who was able to buy one individually.

Be careful buying one as if you buy a stolen unit you could forfeit it along with the couple- three thousand you paid for it.

Id really like a couple PEQ 15’s but am not about to spend several thousand on one 2nd hand when if they were legal for sale the cost would be significantly less.

ETA: As for break in its good to shoot at least 500rds of quality brass cased 5.56MM ammo to ensure everything is functioning properly. You do not need to break in a barrel with a chrome bore. I don’t really even “break in” stainless barrels either. Just go shoot, and Ive never noticed anything negative about not doing some tedious cleaning prodecure for the first 20 rounds. The copper jacket is far softer than the steel, and 20 rds is not going to do anything to it.

Load ammo into magazine
Insert magazine into AR
Chamber round
Point towards enemy
Pull trigger until empty
Lather, rinse & repeat until out of ammo or money

yeah…I’m pretty sure you shoot it

Looks like the answer is easy, but thanks for posting anyway. Just got a new BCM and was wondering the same thing before my first trip to the range.

Thank you everyone for your answers, they all really helped ( except the smart ass’s)

against FDA regulations?

Not a problem. Glad I could help.
