How difficult is it to sell a suppressor?

I don’t mean the paperwork, I just mean is their a market for used suppressors. I have an AAC 416 can that I never use and I was wondering if it would even be worth the hassle to sell it.

I think the hardest part is you are generally limited to people in state (not by law but by people not wanting to pay two tax stamps for out of state transfers). Like anything if the price is right you can probally find an in state buyer.

ETA: You have been selling some nice kit lately, I remember seeing some other items you sold on the EE.

I think that lightly used suppressors paired with a significant hit to the asking price outweigh the potential advantages of buying a new suppressor. As a buyer I would try to avoid anything that rode on a SBR, FA and anything that was priced marginally close to a new suppressor (within ~150 dollars) of similar type.

ETA: OTOH there some accompanied with lifetime warranties, but that’s something I have no experience with having to use.

ETA2: There also may be someone out there willing to trade lightly used caliber A for lightly used caliber B. Saving some fiscal heartache for both sides.

Well I’ll just tell you. There’s a fellow that just sold a OPS inc 12th model in the EE here on this board yesterday. I looked at his ad virtually daily the whole time it was up because that suppressor was perfect to complete my MK 12. I even already have the brake and collar on the gun so that wasn’t even an issue. The price he was asking and then eventually dropped down to was more than fair enough for me.

The deal killer and reason I never bothered him or took up his time with IM’s was because I’m in Kansas and he’s in Colorado. That turned the can into a two tax item.

Cost of suppressor + $400 in trasnfer taxes + $50 bucks to my C3 to do the transfer basically brought the deal up to a point that I may as well just have my dealer order in a brand new can.

And in no way, shape, or form is this the seller’s fault. It was just the crappy luck that even though our states border one another the transfer couldn’t be made any other way between the two of us.

Now if you have a buddy there or other qualified individual in your home state you potentially will have a lot better luck.

I recently tried to sell a Surefire 556K to a local C3 dealer and was told it was worth $200.00. I almost fell over. Granted I was selling to a dealer that was looking for some profit, but it seems that for the most part, unless your lucky, you get stuck with these.

Good luck. Wally
