After talking to him more it wasnt so much the patches and brushes, it was the solvents he was using and letting sit in his barrel that caused most of the damage.

Ahhh… yeah. Probably some of those harsh copper solvents or something.
The only thing I’ll let sit is CLP. Won’t hurt the bore and softens carbon fouling up.
Slip2000 ewl is another good alternative thats harmless and breaks down all that stuff.
