How are ARC mags performing?

I’m in the market for some extra mags and the Tango Down ARC mags seem to be on sale at most places. I figured they may be worth another look, but wanted some input on how well the mags worked. Is anyone using them or did everyone stick with pmags?

They run flawlessly in some guns, choke on others. Used them in a stock 6920 that was broken in and running Pmags, and suffered two double feeds in a row. Occured again with another mag. Stick them in an LMT, and they ran.

ARC mags are like DPMS rifles: you might get the ones that run like a raped ape, however the law of large numbers states you won’t be totally satisfied.

Stick to the Pmags for the safe bet.

i hate to hear that there not running 100% cant take that chance on a magazine its gotta be tip top i guess ill stick to my pmags

PMAGS

I just bought three. Tried one. Worked OK. I will be taking them along to a class soon to give them a better workout but will run a bunch of rounds through each of them before I go to the class to confirm they generally work in my gun. I am also bringing over a dozen PMAGs and a couple Lancers that have already run through a few classes…

The thing I think is weird about them is the follower hump is on the opposite side of the PMAG/Lancer which screws up your mag checks after charging the gun. Means you load 27 or 29 in instead of 28/30.

What is the point of this post?

The OP asked about Tango Down ARC magazines. Either give him your FIRST HAND opinion on ARC magazines, or point him in the direction of other FIRST HAND opinions.

Posting “PMAGS” does not contribute anything useful.

In response to the OP, I have been running ARCs exclusively for the past year.
I don’t have an exact round count on each mag, but I have easily put a couple
thousand rounds combined through mine. I have had zero issues with them in
any of my rigs which include 2 complete 16" DD rifles as well as two DD SBR’s
( 1 - 10.5" / 1 - 11.5" ).

I still have and still run PMAGs occasionally. My main reason for trying the ARCs
was because they always drop free - loaded or empty like hot butter. ARC mags
measure .865" going into the magwell. PMAGs measure .880". The difference
might not seem like much, but that 15 thou makes all the difference in the world
as far as consistent reloads are concerned.

I realize I am but one in an unknown sampling size and that others have reported
issues. So take it with a grain of salt.

I have 4. I won’t use them for matches, hunting or defense. They run spotty in my LMT and N4 Recce.

No problem yet in an N4 carbine during one range trip.

Sometimes the round is hung up sideways when the bolt comes forward and sometimes the next round just doesn’t get picked up. On one of them, where the top round will not be picked up in the loading cycle, it does that 100% of the time with my N4 Recce.

I consider them complete junk at this time. These 3 rifles are otherwise 100% so far for several thousand rounds each with a wide assortment of pmags and Brownell GI equivalent mags. I don’t think its the rifles.

Thanks for the help everyone. Shame the ARC has a spotty performance record. I guess I’ll just have to look at some more pmags.

that stinks i really liked the way they looked and the design

I have two dozen ARCs in use for training, loan, and carry. They’ve worked well for me.
