So, i found this dealer that is home based gun shop.
i never bought guns from home based gun shop. What do you guys think? Some reason i feel little uncomfortable.
Also how does it work? Just like any gun-shop except i am at someone else house?
Those guys usually have cheaper prices and transfers cause they aren’t paying rent on a building space. I personally have never bought from an FFL who works out of his home. See if you can get on shooting forums and check for a sub-forum that is for your area and see if anyone has posted experience with that Dealer.
Im a home based gun shop myself. I dont know about other guys but I do it for the love of the sport and ammo money. I own another business that pays the bills, my FFL is just for play. I hook people up when I can. Most of my customers dont mind the fact they have to come to my house in the afternoon to pick stuff up. Remember, just cause some one has an FFL doesnt mean their not gonna rip you off, ATF will give ANYONE a FFL if you pay and you clear the background check. However, in my view most backyard FFLs are the same. Cool honset guys who do it for the love…
There’s a guy in my area who does the same thing. He keeps limited store hours and you must call before showing up. However, he is a fully licensed FFL dealer and can get pretty much whatever anyone wants. His prices are routinely $30-$75 cheaper than the commercial gun stores. He is also an accomplished gunsmith and builder of AR rifles.

His business was under Noveske Dealer. Also it’s in Oregon state, close to my house(just right cross the state boarder, iam from Washington), and main point is i don’t have to pay tax.

It’s true about the prices usually being cheaper. Also, the guy was helpful and polite.

You wont have to pay your state tax but rather his states tax. Also ATF wont allow that kind of transfer. They are pretty strick with out of state/ non resident transfers. You would have to buy from hi and have him transfer the firearm to a FFL in your state, no matter how close he is…
The key points that make every good business also hold true for gun shops; 1) Owner’s reputation, 2) Knowledge of products, 3) Quality of products, 4) Availability of products, 5) Competative prices, 6) Hepful, friendly, accommodating customer service.
If the owner is a licensed dealer, has what you want, at a price you like, and you are comfortable with him/her on a professional level, it sounds like a win-win situation.
A dealer I work with only does gunshows and sales from his home. I call him and ask what he has in stock, if he doesn’t have what I want he’ll order it. I show up at his house do the paper work and pick it up. Of course I also helped move some of his safes into his house. LOL so I know him pretty well.

It is perfectly legal to purchase a long gun from a licensed dealer in another state, provided the transfer takes place face-to-face and complies with all laws in both the seller’s and buyer’s states.
In addition, a licensee may sell a rifle or shotgun to a person who is not a resident of the State where the licensee’s business premises is located in an over-the-counter transaction, provided the transaction complies with State law in the State where the licensee is located and in the State where the purchaser resides.

For many years i frequently bought guns from a good friend i worked with until his passing. Sure do miss those home cooked meals that came with the gun sales. Also felt comfortable at his house. Most home based FFL’s around me have closed due to new regulations.

I was a home-based FFL dealer until the Brady Law’s zoning restrictions put me out of business back in the mid-90s. I mostly did special orders and charged a minimal fee for my services. I wasn’t in it for the money, I had the FFL because I traveled a lot for work and wanted the flexibility to buy out of state.
There aren’t too many “kitchen-table” dealers left, but I wouldn’t be concerned about using one.
Oregon doesn’t have any state sales tax 
I’ll bet you’re in Vancouver, WA, I have friends there. Also, you can purchase long guns in OR, just drive over and do it over the counter, it’s completely legal. Pistols are another matter.
I make a point of only buying from the couple home-based gun dealers I know anymore.
I like the cheap transfers and socializing with the guys. Plus, they actually know something about guns, which is refreshing.
I go through a home based FFL in Washington, Foothills Firearms, for most of my purchases these days. I found him while I was looking for an M9 for a reasonable price. I called pretty much every normal gun shop around and they either wanted a mint or didn’t have one. I ended up getting a decent used one online and had it transferred for $20. Can’t beat it.
