What are all you guys using that carry a G17 or G19 (off duty) iwb or owb?
Thanks
Back when I carried yuck spit hack cough Glocks daily I used Blade-Tech’s IWB and scabbard holsters. I’ve always found Blade-Tech’s IWBs to be very comfortable.
I currently carry a 19 in a Blade-Tech IWB, but I am looking towards a Comp-Tac that I can tuck my shirt in with. I can’t remember the model. I know someone knows the model and will chime in.
For IWB, I carry a G19 in a Sparks Watch Six. For OWB, I use an Alessi CQC/S.
Original Sparks Versa Max, Rosen OWB, and a IWB from Southern Holsters which is a helluva holster for the money and turnaround time. Also have a Kramer IWB.
Sidearmor IWB. I have an older model that is no longer made. It spreads the clips out more like a versa max 2 or watch six fro milt sparks. As opposed to the one or two closely spaced clips on the body of the holster. I find that this helps spread the load and reduces the visible “lump” of the concealed pistol.

I don’t like IWB, but I have a Blade-tech for my G19 if the need arises. Comp-Tac CTAC is the way to go if you like IWB. FWIW, I only use kydex holsters.
OWB I use a Blade-tech, but make sure if you use one you get regular belt loops. The Stingray loop that comes on newer ones SUCKS. Comp-Tac is good OWB too, I’d take either brand.
For IWB–Sparks Heritage #1
For concealed belt–Alessi/Heinie DOJ
For off duty carry, Kramer IWB #3 Horsehide for my G19.
Well I guess I’ll add another completely different option…
I use the Galco COP 3-Slot for almost ALL my carry (G22 … same size as the G17)
I sold off my IWB milt sparks since I found that the Galco really did everything well for me. It has 2 cants and holds the butt of the pistol high into my ribs… I prefer that for concealment and retention.
I carry a G22 every day at work.
Duty (uniform) use: Safariland 295 Level II.
Duty (wearing a suit) use: Gould & Goodrich 803.
Duty (plainclothes) use: BladeTech OWB.
Off-duty: BladeTech IWB.
I carry a G19 in a Comptac Minotaur and I absolutely love this holster.
I’ve used the CTAC daily for years. Very comfortable, conceals well and will hold a 19 or 17 without changes.

For IWB, I’ve never found anything quite as comfortable as a Sparks VMII. For my 19 I currently use a Sparks EX and it works well but have a VMII on order for the G.
I really haven’t found any OWB holsters that conceals mid to large pistols as well as a good IWB holster under light clothing. That said, I like Kramer belt scabbards or the Alessi CQC for OWB if I need to consider concealment.
I switched from IWB to OWB in recent years due to comfort issues, and uniformity in pants sizing.
I really like the CTAC Locking Paddles (and well designed paddle holsters in general). Blade Tech makes great holsters, but their paddles suck.
Thank you all for the opinions and insight. I’m not sure what I will go with yet but this is more than enough to research. Thanks again!
When I can, I carry OWB in a Blackhawk Serpa paddle holster.
In warmer weather, I currently use a Bianchi Model 100 leather holster, since it’s just what I had laying around. It easily hides a G19/23 when wearing just shorts and an untucked tank top. I am looking into other options, probably some sort of kydex for an IWB holster.
Hawgleg44, the Serpa locking system has been known to break and that makes it impossible to remove the gun without tools.

G19 in Blade Tech IWB.
That’s the first I’ve ever heard of about this. I know of people who have been using them for a long time without any problems. I just started using them a few months ago.
Maybe it’s time to put them up for sale or trade and go the Blade Tech route.
Thanks for the info. Do you have any internet posts or any articles on this happening? It seems that if it’s a widespread problem, Blackhawk would be addressing it. Not being able to get your defensive handgun out of your holster definately sounds like a liability issue.
