holster question

I’m slowly gathering gear so that i can start to take classes hopefully next year after deer season. I have a serpa cqb holster already but finally did some research on it and discovered the negative…which just happened to reinforce my own thoughts and theories on the holster itself. But i digress.

I’m looking at the following: http://www.safariland.com/DutyGear/product.aspx?pid=6379

For my glock 23 and i’m a lefty for what it’s worth. My question is what is the belt-clip easy attachment this holster comes with? Is it a paddle type attachment or does the holster body completely detach from the clip?

But i’m thinking of getting this holster and a couple kydex pouches for pmags and glock mags and a gun belt does this sound like all the gear truly necessary for me to start running classes? Thanks for the advice and answers in advance.

Here is a picture that shows how it clips on. The clip is also adjustable for cant. Click on the link to see it.

You can get a paddle AND belt loop version of that holster here:

The clip version is here (6379 - you can see the 745BL clip in the pic):

For you first classes, keep in minimalist. A stiffened riggers type belt, extra mag pouches and a good holster (you are on the right track with safariland). I would hold off on war belts, etc. until you know what you need.

One last note: you might consider light options depending on the curriculum of the course you plan on taking. Some might suggest a weapon mounted light, and you will want to consider a holster to suit - or choose a non-light bearing holster that has a light bearing version you can get later to keep a consistent draw mechanism (again the safariland ALS is a good choice).

Thanks guys, that’s what i thought. Any recommendation on a rigger’s belt that’s better than the others or kydex pouches? I’m going to buy a tlr-1 or x300 that i can hot swap between my ar and my nightstand glock, until i can afford to buy two of them that is. I plan on using this holster for some ccw when i can wear a jacket to cover it, rather than use my IWB all the time, so i don’t know how practical a light will be for me on a cc weapon. Suggestions?

I carry a g19 with tlr-1s in a kydex iwb/owb holster. And can conceal it just fine under a loose fitting T-shirt. And I’m a small Guy(5’6" 145lbs) a good belt goes a long way in helping with this. I have a wilderness Tactical csm (I believe that’s what it’s called) it’s a vary stiff kydex reinforced riggers type belt. Just remember wen your buying it to add a few extra inches to the size if you Plan on carrying iwb with it at all. For belt mounted pouches something from blade-tech will work if you want it like right now. Or if you don’t mind waiting go with RCS.(raven concealment system’s) they make A vary high quality product. In fact I’d just get the holster and magazine pouches from them instead of buying from safariland(there is nothing wrong with their product’s they just wouldn’t be my first choice for what you need) and you’d be set to start classes. After you take a class or two with that kit you can go from there and decide what you need and what you don’t. Good luck
