I am looking for a retention holster for a Glock 19. The pistol will either be wearing a SF x200B or X300. I want to mount the holser on an ATS war belt via MOLLE - I do not want to do the drop-leg option.
So:
retention
molle directly to the belt
mounted light
How much retention do you need? Blackhawk makes a level 3 “serpa” that can be bolted onto a molle adapter instead of a belt loop. However, you would have to use their proprietary light. Other than that, all I have seen are "universal’ nylon holsters with just at strap for retention and maybe a flap.
Perhaps someone who’s bought one recently can confirm, but I think that the 6280s are using the same 3-hole pattern as the 6004s, and would bolt right to the MOLLE adapter using that pattern. If not, I think it’s doable to poke the appropriate holes to bolt them up.
The holster bodies for the 6280/6004 are the same with the same set of holes for attaching screws (inverted triangle). This is why I now only buy 6280s and throw them on a 6004 shroud if I need to change up holsters for some reason.
The Tek-Lok system is alright for mag and flashlight pouches…but I don’t really want it on my holsters. It allows a bit too much movement for my taste. It’s a better option than the “stingray” loop on some of their holsters, but neither are ideal, in my opinion.
Personally I’d follow the Milfmasta’s suggestion on this one. Safariland’s stuff is top notch.
No way in hell would I trust a holster with a Tek-Lok on it. Our Taser holster have tek-Loks and those things are forever opening up on us. We now have the hinged portion at the top of our belts to prevent the holster from falling off when it opens up.
FWIW,
I have been running this holster with the SR loop, and overall I am pretty satisfied. Just be sure to Loc-tite the screws. I am in agreeance with NCpatrol about the Tec-Lok. While convinient, there is no way in hell I would trust this to mount a handgun (same Taser experience). In my opinion Tek-Lok is also too narrow to provide a stable drawing platform.
