HK94/MP5 Paddle Mag Release

For nearly 20 years now I have had my HK94 SBR (MP5SF) set up with an aftermarket magazine release. This one operated by the paddle mag being pushed to the side as opposed to forward like the MP5. I finally dropped my 94 SBR off today for the install of the correct mag release.

Who is doing the install & are they properly versed in the legal method of install?

Thats a pretty sweet gun. Have you noticed anything in particular from change as far as pro vs con? Did I mention thats a pretty sweet gun??

I will have to get back to you on the full name, Jeff is the first name. And yes, well versed. I actually dropped the gun off with the FFL that I use for all my NFA stuff and this is a guy that he is very familiar with.

No, actually I always felt like HK94’s and MP5 all shot about the same with regards to accuracy. The shorter barrel just made working in confined spaces a little easier.

Jeff is a good guy. He has done some work for me.

Jeff has done all my paddle installs. No complaints.

If you mean Tac Latch vs. Factory paddle mag release.

Basically the Tac Latch is a no gunsmithing, very affordable option. But as it works laterally it’s not nearly as fast or ergonomic. It’s not horrible, but it’s not as nice as a correct setup.

About the only con for the factory setup (besides cost and needing a gunsmith) is you really can’t return the gun to original configuration (like you can with a tac latch), of course the same is true if you do a SBR and if the smith isn’t careful he can accidentally make a post sample machine gun out of your SBR.

Thanks. I was not aware of the Tac Latch option.
