HK91 port buffer removal

hey guys,

had in an impulse buy the other day. picked up an '81 HK91.

came with a port buffer installed…but whoever put it on there didn’t put it in the right spot. rubber pad of the port buffer should have been placed over the rear flange of the ejection port. instead the pad is sitting behind the metal flange of the ejection port.

did a few google searches but nothing specific.

tried to use an old credit card to slip under the port buffer to get it off without damaging the finish. no good. doesn’t even budge.

any ideas?

Try (pry) harder…it just snaps on (spring steel-
You might try a plastic spatula or tape up a small screwdriver

Odds are finish is already damaged. The buffer is also too far to rear of port either by bad install or efforts to remove. Credit card etc is about the one way but spray good lube under buffer as well.

Not too many come off without damaging the finish.
