HK416???

Is this gun available? Can someone point me in the right direction for information on it?

Thanks, Steve

If your in the .gov or .soc world, then sure it is…

Yep, they are everywhere! Just ask Dinger.

This is of course a joke and are virtually not available to the public.

How about the alternatives like the Colt M5? I have seen a pic or two of one, but I have never seen one for sale anywhere…

The M5 will be interesting, but has not seen the light of day yet. We will also see the SCAR come out in another year or so. So there are options out there (including the POF with their smaller gas system).

Some guy had one on HKPro for $4500, and there was another for $6000 a couple of weeks ago.

Just uppers, mind you. Not complete rifles.

The POF is a good system, I’m gonna buy one as soon as Frank gets some rails that are the same height as the upper.

Rumor a few months ago was that the HK 416 might get released at SHOT.

Fingers crossed.

Any word yet?

Another place to try is www.Johnmayhavetwoofthemandtheyrecool.com :stuck_out_tongue:

Any chance that H.K. will start selling just the uppers to the general public? enquiring minds want to know.

LOL. Poor Dinger!

From what I just saw come out of Magpul, HK can keep the 416!

Magpul has a gas piston upper now?

Grant, you mentioned the Magpul retails for $1400 is that the upper or the whole rifle…thanks.

Is this a real deal SCAR?

It’s not the SCAR (FN), but it is a rifle made by Cobb 50 that was a competitor in the SCAR trials.

Yeah, that rifle’s been FS on the net for going on two years. My understanding is that it is actually only about 1/4 of Cobb’s SCAR solicitation and Cobb rebuilt it after the trials and that dude bought it. Their real SCAR entry had a DD rail, a different barrel/gas block, and a different upper receiver…

YMMV.

At the moment they are only available to Military/Federal (Complete weapons & upper conversation kits) and state & local LE (complete weapons).

I know guys like to bash HK and while some of it is certainly justified our own ATF is to blame now. The “New” ATF barrel ban importation ruling is the problem. While it does not affect military & federal customers it is killing any chance for civilian sales and forcing state & local LE to buy complete weapons.

However this has not stopped some enterprising HK dealers from getting uppers to sell. I assume these are uppers taken from LE purchased complete weapons($1500-$1700). They destroy the lower and sell the upper. I have been informed this is perfectly legal and applaud their ingenuity. Unfortunately as with anything HK (except complete weapons) the dealers are marking them up through the roof. The last guy I contacted wanted $7000. Like everybody else I consider this to be crazy, but it’s not really surprising considering these are the same dealers who charged $900 for a PSG-1 stock or $100 for HK SA80A2 mags a few years ago. It’s unfortunate but a very high percentage of HK’s parts & accessory dealers are scumbags, pure and simple. Only competition drove these prices down.

I keep hearing rumors of civilian sales, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. I do think it’s a good sign to hear HK representatives discussing it though. This would require U.S. made barrels though. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Until then I’m hoping somebody takes pity on me and sells me an upper.

I will not rest though until I’m shooting the hell out of my personal 416 & 417, but I could live with just a 10.5" 416 kit for now.

Ah, the 416 Dinger’s white whale.

Good morning my friend.

While I certainly want one, I’m not paying the going rate ($4500-$7000). That’s just crazy for a weapon I intend on shooting the hell out of.

It’s also doesn’t help that I could NOT afford to spend that kind of money on an upper in the first place. I just don’t have your kind of expendable cash lying around. I have to pick and choose my weapon purchases rather carefully.

Looks like you’re not treading down the same path Ahab tread.

You must be confusing me with someone, just as handsome, but richer.
