OMG! are you for real? HK will be selling uppers? like Drop on my lower upper! i don’t know if I can believe this? please tell me you are lying. because that is a real shocker

I hope to be the first kid on my block with one. And since it doesnt have the M4 barrel profile, it’ll be over the counter in MD haha wonderful.

Price is a tad high, but suprisingly HK has addressed all of the major complaints (no seperate uppers, not compatible with AR-15 lowers etc).

I can live with the price, I hope they make an sbr version so I don’t have to buy the 416 upper at $4k

Can’t you order uppers online in your state and have then shipped to you?

You certainly can Stick. But unfortunately ar15’s with the m4 contour barrel are regulated and therefore are subject to a 8 day background check. Ar15’s with heavy barrels or no step down contour like the m4, are over the counter much like hunting rifles and shotguns, thus being cash and carry. LWRCI rifles are over the counter, and from the looks of the picture on HK-USA the MR556 will be the same way

Usual HK development updates.

“Next sign 400 miles”

MSRP is $2995. There have been places taking orders for the rifle at the $2500 price point. Dealer cost is in the $2200 neighborhood.

The barrel profile is still a brick, and there is no confirmation on SBR models or SBR uppers

Those are some of my concerns. I don’t see the appeal of an 8.6lbs carbine, even if HK is stamped on it.

People aren’t complaining about it now, but just wait. After the shiny new toy feeling wears off, weight will be an issue and plenty will go running back to their feather weight DI models.

I have been a long time HK fan but 3k for that gun shown in link…yeah right imho.

If this gun would of been avail. when more people were buying the piston hocus pocus then it would have sold a ton more than I bet it does once its released now.

I would take a ton of ARs before this gun regardless of price as well.

KAC SR 15…LMT MRP both fall under that absurd price point even when its been knocked to the lowest mentioned.

Trident, I’ve been waiting sooooooo long for this rifle! (along with alot of others) I may have to break down and get a LMT MRP piston soon if this doesn’t materialize soon… I’ve seen yours, I must say you have some nice toys!

I tend to agree with you in regards to the average civilian AR shooter. However, I do believe that certain piston platforms offer a significant advantage for suppressed SBRs and full auto fire. The HK 416 is on my short list of piston platforms that I’d trust with my life. Whether that advantage is worth the extra price for a civilian is another matter…

I won’t buy if it’s a brick.

I’m not sure what you mean by this, since the MR556 upper will drop onto any AR lower, and you can drop any upper onto the MR556 lower.

Thanks pal:)

I am biased clearly but I really am a longtime big HK fan and I am a straight HK handgun guy but the mrp piston is def. comparable if not a better designed piston gun than the hk given it has less parts than the HK…and according to a number of respected opinions including a mod on here that did a video on youtube breaking the two down side by side actually chooses the MRP over the HK regardless of cost.

The HK is only a piston, the mrp is potentially a 100 diff. guns and you have the support from one of the finest cs outfits in the biz in lmt…vs’s arguably the worst rep. for treating customers well in hk.

Just my take but I would love to have you join us in the MRP world as the more the merrier and the further the envelope gets pushed with the MRP system.

Not sure if you were joking or not, but…

I was set on an HK416 a long time ago, but got two POFs to play with in the interim. One was good, but the other was crappy. Now I am back to regular AR builds. Of course I would still like an HK416 and the rifle in pics looks interesting, although I am not convinced the buttstock would be my first choice. If in the future I can find an HK or SCAR for $1600, the intensity of my interest will increase. But at 3K, it will be a tough sell. But not as tough as that ACR thing.

does anyone have a clue on how much a upper is going to run?

how is this thing 8.6lbs? Rail looks bricky as well, could use a bit more milling down.
