High Calorie bars

I was just wondering if any one had any preferences for any specific brand of high calorie bars (I.e. Mainstay, etc…) and size per calorie (2400, 1200, 3600). I am just trying to think of ways to supplement my food stores. The idea that I have is that should I ever be forced to live off of only what I have in the house, the bars will help extend the canned goods I have.

I like the Mainstay 3600’s. Taste pretty good; taste is subjective. 5yr. shelf life. 1 bar=400 cal., 23g fat, 23mg Na, Vitamins: A=50%,E=25%,B-12=20%, C=60%, D=50%, B-6=90%, Iron=10%, Ca=50%, Riboflavin=25%, Folic Acid=35%, Mg=30%, Ph=40%, Niacin=30%.Exceeds USCG and SOLAS standards.

I tried the Datrex bars, and the coconut taste drove my bug nuts crazy after a while.

I did a test where I tried eating just the food bars for two days, to see what I liked. The slightly lemony Mainstay bars were the most palatable. They also seemed to need the least water to wsh them down with.

I bought a combo of the 1200 calorie and 3600 calorie Mainstays.

I’ve tried several different bars and I like the Mainstay bars the best. They have a shortbread cookie taste and texture to them.

I buy the 2400 cal bars (not quite as bulky as the 3600) and put them in all our vehicles, bags, and stash a few around the house.

i put the mainstay bars in my get home bags for our cars. i have the 3600 ones.

I ended up buying several cases of the Datrex 3600 Emergency Food Bars last November because I went in on a group buy with several other people and we received a decent discount.

I figured that they were good enough to back up the food stores at home and the BUG out location. I also have a few packs in the BUG out bags and a few in the truck.

They are ok taste wise but are a bit crumbly and break apart easily.

I’ve got a couple SOS Food Lab bars in my jeep kit in case I were t ever get stuck out in the desert/mountains, the taste isn’t too bad I they are among the cheaper ones that I can find locally
