Hi, my name is Trooper

We recently had a litter of German Shepherd Pups consisting of 5 healthy males and 1 healthy female…or so we thought.
This is Trooper, the only female pup out of the litter.

I named her Trooper because she truly is one! Sunday evening we were getting ready to deworm the pups and as I open the door to the Bathroom I see the Female pup with something long & bloody hanging out of her belly and dragging the ground! Blood everywhere! Her hernia ripped open. She acted like nothing happened and still wanted to play with me!!!
We wrapped her up and took her to the emergency Vet in Conroe. We thought the intestines were hanging out all chewed up but the Doctor said he thinks it’s just abdominal fat.
Hours later after he finished surgery on her he told us that it was just fat but he had to cut it (because it was in bad shape - I believe her brothers were chewing on it) and stitch it together. While he was busy with her he noticed a birth defect; the diaphragm was not grown together and the liver was in the wrong spot. He corrected everything and said that she will be just fine but she would have died for certain if the Hernia wouldn’t have ripped and if he wouldn’t have found what he did. The lungs would have collapsed.

We will keep Trooper around till she can be spayed before we sell her so she won’t be bred. Now I need to sell my Noveske to pay for the ER bill!

She looks very sweet, and is definitely one of the cutest pups I have seen in a while.

Bless you and your family for being so kind to her. It’s tough to do what you did, instead of putting her down.

I had a Lab/Boxer mix that required a lot of vet visits. But she was the sweetest dog you’d ever meet, and the love she returned was worth every nickel I ever spent on her.

She’s cute but bites like a pit bull.:laugh: her brother made my wife bleed today he bit her so hard. One of the trades I was hoping for with this breeding!

Props to you man! That wasn’t cheap what you just did, but you still did it! She is a trooper, and if I lived near you I would taker her off your hands. How can you not get a soft spot for that face???

speaking of pups

we have 9 new ones. 5 boys 4 girls. this is day 2

Agreed. Very cool post – and one which speaks to the character of the OP. Every hardened man should have a soft side, and if a puppy in distress can’t reach it, then I don’t know what will. :wink:

AC

They look huge - congrats!
Here are ours at 1 day of age;

How is Trooper holding up after the surgery? Is she a little ball of puppy energy???

Yea, lol! she had surgery around 11pm sunday night and 12 hours later she tried to jump around and play:fie:

congrats to you as well. i’ve always wanted a german shephard but i always get voted out.

On a side note, tails were docked today, they look good. Holy moly the shitstorm that engulfed the docking of the tails.

What an adorable looking pup! Well done!

I love GSDs. When I was about 4, my mom and dad bought a farm and moved my sister and I out to the country. When got moved in, we discovered a GSD roaming around the acreage. Further investigation by my dad revealed that it was the previous property owner’s dog which was just left there and had to scrounge for food and water for about 4 or 5 months.

In any event, the dog ended up adopting me after about five minutes and I spent the next three or four years learning the ropes of a country boy with that dog as my constant companion. His age unfortunately got the better of him and he had to be put down. I remember that Sunday morning like it was yesterday.

Anyway, your a good man ColdDeadHands. Thanks for the happy ending.

She looks like OHHH CAMERA!!! :sarcastic:

Thanks for all the kind words! Here are some pics of her brothers, 6 more days and she can terrorize them again;

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ They are soo in trouble. :lol:

Indeed. A warrior protects the innocent and the young, as best he can.

You are a very good man, sir.
